Which would you purchase if you found them for the same price? Seems like there are alot of complaints about the onkyo but not to many about the pioneer.... I have the 805 but am considering returning it. Found the 92 for the same comparable price. So what would you guys say?

Pioneer Elite allday, everyday and as many times as you want on Sunday.
I feel Pioneer Elite goes ALOT better with Polk speakers then Onkyo. I personally don't like Onkyo due to the fact they are very bright and thin sounding. I find this to hold true with there Integra line.
Pioneer Elite is a much more clean and clear with a nice touch of warmth to it. Not to mention it just works and woks well. I install them all the time and Love em.
Good luck with your system.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -

I have pretty much the same thoughts from my own experience. I liked to add any possible emphasis to the first sentence of the post. -
Going to agree with the above and say Pioneer. Not that I am biased

I am looking at replacing a Yamaha 5.1 entry level receiver with a Carver HR-895. The reason is, I have purchased a set of B&W 303s and 201s for home suround and music. I figured that the carver even though older would be the better bet for sound quality. Is this a correct assumption

I had a 94 in my setup with my Emotiva MPS-1 Amp before my Integra. I really liked the 94, and I really like my Integra. Believe me when I tell you, I heard "very bright and thin sounding" with a Denon 3808ci, but not with the Pioneer or the Integra. My opinion. Speakers are LSi15s, LSiC, LC65i (x4). Maybe that is why the integra sounds good in my setup, might be a different story with RTis."People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." Are you thinking of returning it because you have complaints, or because you have read of complaints? If you're not happy with it, return it. If you are happy with it, keep it.
When asking opinions like this, most people just recommend the brand they prefer, without actually having heard both models.
