Question for everyone. I'm going to make my own bi-wiring cable and was wondering if anyone has done it? If so could you possibly post a picture and discribe the materials used.

Thanks,
Jeff

    easy........

buy a 4 conductor speaker wire cable........14 guage or better, twist the 2 positive leads together, and the negitive leads together, terminate if you want.......at the other end you'll have 4 conductors, terminate if you want, remove the jumpers..match the colors and your home free.

That's the end I have no trouble with. I'm curious about the end that goes into the receiver. I'm planning on using two runs of monster speaker wire (the thickest they have), and wonder if I can get it to fit. I will more then likely use terminals, perhaps one banana and one flex end so that i can get it all to fit into one speaker input. Could you show me the other end of the cable?
    Thanks-

I use 13awg silver coated copper for the highs. For the lows I braided 3 pieces of 22awg copper. The amp end is just twisted together without terminals.

Sorry, but I don't have a digital camera or scanner.

    F1nut,
    Wires...... Bi mantis
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. My own signature wires.....how cool would that be to say your system is wired by Mantis?:p .

    Soccerplyr,
I don't see your problem.Do you own wire now you want to use for this wire adventure?Or are you shopping around?
Dude if you want to make your own Bi wires,I suggest you use a 4 conductor wire, and terminate the ends with Banana plugs. This is exaclty what mopst wire companies use to make there pre amde bi wire cables. Then you have NO problems connecting the wire to the receiver.

    mantis-

You're probably right, I just get monster stuff cheap and I don't think they have any four conductor wire. What kind did you use, where did you get it?

    yes they do.
Monster has tons of bulk 4 conductor wire.14 x 4 would be a good wire.

    I use Monstercable M1.4s bi wires.They are premade.15 feet,they are 300.00.

    soccerplyr,
no you can't.Monster M1.4s bulk wire is 7 dollars pre foot.Mine are 15 feet each. Then you need Monsterlock ends, banana tips, the pants, shrinkwrap, your time to build them.

The fun factor is worth making wires.I have made my own bi wires in the past. You really don't save much.Add it up.
Just the wire alone in bulk will costy you 210.00.

    need 48 feet
That is why I did not bi-wire my setup. Too long of runs.
Mantis is right, there a right way to do things - and most of the time it is expensive. If you want the results that bi-wire may have I would not just cheaply rig something up. Spend that money on some popcorn and throw in a movie. lol
    Nice bi-wire Mantis!!

Ohh ya - Mantis -How fast did you rip out the DC to take a shot of your wire. I'm still waiting for your killer HT in the Systemshowcase. Of course it has been a while now and even my HT has been very much upgraded since my first pics. Plenty of time for ya
Hey someone has to give you $hit!! LOL

If you want to try building your own check out the "Business and Industrial" section of E-bay. There's a section for wire & cable. Belden makes some good stuff.

    My 8ft runs:
4 conductor silver coated copper $21.00
6 conductor copper stuff laying around

So I did the math today to see exactly what it would cost for me to make- $51.86. That's all monster parts the mc500 cable, two sets of bananas (the new ones that come in two pieces and you screw them together). However, I will have to buy the shrink wrap because I can't get any thick enough for the two runs. Looked at ebay (thanks gidrah) and found it for an additional $10 shipped. I'll definatly post a pic when it's done next week.
