feedback question

I just upgraded my home theater setup. I'm using old Cerwin Vega AT-12 loudspeakers (temporarily), VM-20 center channel, VM-10 surrounds, and DSW-Pro 500 sub, with a brand new Sony STR-DA3300ES receiver. Everything is great but the feedback is annoying. I checked the polarity of the speakers, everything is fine. I plugged the receiver into another room, on a different breaker, with the VM-20 and still heard feedback from the speaker. I returned my original receiver, and got another; still with the same problem. At low volumes, the noise is intolerable. My old JVC has no feedback, and my old STR-DE845 has no problems. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

    Hello Geoffpac,
When you say, "feedback" that is normally associated with a rising, howling sound usually caused by a microphone picking up the sound produced by the speakers. Are you referring to a hissing sound? If so, this could be caused by the receiver's signal-to-noise ratio being less than it should be.
