Omnimount for Center Channel Csi3
I've read some older reviews on the Omnimount for center channels, but wondering what the latest opinions are and if there is a better way. I've got a Csi3 which is 21 pounds and a DLP TV. I was considering building a shelf mounted to the wall out of wood and painting to match the wall. I am thinking this stand might be better though since the speakers would by the front of the TV instead of back approx 5 inches behind the TV (but above it of course).
My only concern with the mount below is hearing a few people had it come crashing down. Could have been just a faulty unit or bad installation, but still concerned.

I have the omnimount on my Sony LCoS and it works great. Took a minute to get the support legs lined up and even but since then, I have had no probblems. Currently I have the CSi A6 on it and spport is great. There are two types of people in the world, The Ones that do, and the ones that wish they had! What are you?

im using the omnimount also on my DLP and CSi5....no casualties yet, but im always inspecting the unit making sure its secure, my biggest gripe about the product is that the legs which hold the adjustment nut are plastic, tighten them too much and you will crack them, but i think theres is V2 now??

I also have this on my LG dlp holding the csi3 and love it. It does take a bit to line it up but it works fine. Just don't over tighten anything.

I have CSi3 but my TV is LCD so I placed the speaker under the TV....I will most likely make a stand for the center speaker...but to answer your question, as long as you use it properly you should have no problems with it...Video: LG 55LN5100/Samsung LNT4065F

I've been meaning to write up a review of the Omnimount CCH1 ... just haven't gotten it done.
I also considered building some sort of shelf in the wall, but unless you really enjoy that type of project I'd say that it's much quicker and easier to go with a mount like the Omnimount.
Anyway, I've been using the CCH1 for close to 6 months now with my CSi25 and it's been solid. As long as you install it correctly and don't use a center channel speaker over 30 lbs., I think it's well worth the money. My HT

I have had mine installed for a little over a month with a CSi5 on it. I was worried that the back legs would loose thier tension (I didn't want to have them to tight and break thru the plastic slide).
Someone in a previous thread mentioned it bowed in the back of thier TV a bit, but I didn't see that happen with mine.
So far it performs great and I haven't had any problems with it. I still check it regularly as it is about 5.5' off the ground it it makes me a bit nervous.
A great product, without it I would have probably had to put my center channel on the ground.

I think I'll go ahead and get it off Amazon and check it the first few weeks specifically too. I could build a shelf, finding the studs is the only difficult part. I think this will actually work out better though.TV Samsung 61" 1080P DLP LED

I was really worried about the OmniMount as well but have been using it for a little over a month now to support my Csi5 on top of my DLP and knock on wood, no problems yet. As others recommended to me, I used little pieces of felt (like those felt strips you can buy with a sticky back) to protect the front of the tv from the little peg legs and to also protect the center from the lip. It was much easier than building the shelf I was considering building!
-
I went ahead and ordered it, I'm interested to see it and if mounting it upside is really the best method (as noted on Amazon). It looks like the feet might intrude onto the screen otherwise.TV Samsung 61" 1080P DLP LED

The feet are roughly an inch. They come just to the top of the screen on my DLP but are not in the way, or distracting at all. Luckily, it is easy to flip the shelf should the pegs not work on your tv. The top lip is much smaller than the pegs.

I had searched high and low for a solution for center channel placement, this was the best I could find.
It was originally hlolding a Lighter Klipsch SL Center, but is now holding my CSi5 (~29lbs) on my Mitsu 52" DLP (steep back) and it works great.
It did take some time to initially set it up. Had to figure out the right length legs, keep adjustnig to get them even and level, etc. Of course I dropped the darn allen key behind the TV-well one year I'll recover it. I was a bit aprehensive about its security in the beginning. But I am comfortable now.
The pegs on the front are just barely too long-I am considering cuting them down-but for now-bearable. I raised it up a bit by putting thicker rubber feet between the table and the TV-I plan to paint the front lip Black-Its distracting (at least to me.)
I don't have any plastic legs on mine-The legs with mine (multiple lengths included) are steel tubes with a allen keyed set screw. it feels good and secure and I made the screw fairly tight.
I was concerned about the wieght of the CSi5 on the TV, but I see no bowing on the back of my TV.
I am also using the adjustment leg on the CSi5 to aim the speaker down. The leg just fits on the back of the omnimount table (about 1/2" to 1/4" from the leg to the edge) but so far no issues at all. Of course Polk's description and picture (http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/individual/center/csi5/) of the adjustment kickstand is supposed to allow you to directly rest the CSi5 on the top of the set and use the adjustment kickstand to rest on the back of the TV so that you wouldn't have to use a mount like this omnimount, but for such a behemoth speaker-it just seemed to scary to even think about that. God forbid the speaker vibrates (speakers tend to do that for some reason - you know). I feel much safer with the omni mount.____________________

I had this for CS400i. I thought it made the top of my 42" DLP start to sag a bit in the middle. That was then end of that. I wasn't taking any chances.

very user friendly something you could use on many tv's ,make sure you get the omnimount not a competetor.

Here's what we did. Since it can be a pain to find a shelf with the right dimensions and if you aren't inclined to make your own just go to Home Depot and buy a couple shelf brackets. They have a pretty good selection of different designs. Hang the brackets, put the rubber speaker feet on the brackets themselves and set your center channel on top. Works like a charm. Total cost: $10.00.

Installed my Omnimount from Amazon, it came with the metal legs. It appears to be very solid, I went with the upside down configuration as well over those little peg legs. It was just the perfect tilt without even extending the long legs. I went ahead and used the stickies, they aren't concrete so I'm sure some glue gone or something would remove it later. I'll probably keep this system to this TV anyway.TV Samsung 61" 1080P DLP LED

I use one for my LSiC. I have had it for a couple of years with no issues and it works really well. If you need to tilt the speaker though, I would mount the Omnimount so it is flat and tilt the speaker on top of it. I have the lip facing up so the speaker cannot slide forward and have the Omni mounted flat. It has worked great over my Hitachi rear projection for a couple years now.Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

Thank you! I have speaker wire issues on the other side of the room myself. I try to hide them best as I can by burying them along the carpet molding but it's still not to my liking..... My walls are plaster so I can't hide them that way but I'll figure something out eventually.Onkyo TX-SR705
