Anyone watch it lastnight?
I was a huge Knight Rider fan back in te 80's. I loved that show so much I purchased a 1982 Firebird Se. I wanted to convert it into a Knight Rider car and so on.
This new show I'm not sure of. It seemed like a 3 hour Ford commercial. The Knight Rider car still had all the Ford badges on it where the Orignal Kitt had none. They didn't even call it a Trans amp, it was a black T Top.
The story was kinda cool, but I felt it could have been better. I like how they rolled into the new show linking it completely to the old show.
I'll give it a few shows and see if it picks up. Terminator did and I felt the same way about that when I watched it. It's getting better and better each week. Hopefully so with this.

What mantis said. I wasn't thrilled with the premiere, but I enjoyed it enough to keep watchin and see how it goes.
Decent cast at least. The Ford marketing is definitely a bit overboard.
One small complaint : having a big name (Val Kilmer) as the voice of KITT was a bit distracting. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
Bring back the original voice and the black TA
wonder how much Ford paid towards production costs............... -
As far as the advertising goes, Nissan did/will do the same thing with Heroes. This did seem a little overboard, as the chase through the mountain had Land Rovers, Volvos, Fords, and Lincolns(all ford owned products). I don't remember seeing a Jag, but I was working on a proposal at the same time, so I might have missed it. The show wasn't all bad, and I look forward to seeing more. I just hope the acting improves a "little". That was probably the biggest dissappointment for me. Too many soap stars bleeding soap style acting.Tschüss

I watched the NBC movie. While the acting felt just as cheesy as the original, the car just didn't feel like KITT... it felt like Val Kilmer... KITT always had a great personality but Val Kilmer played him too much like a dead machine. They also didn't explain what happened to the original KITT. Was he copied / moved into the new machine or simply scrapped? I can't imagine Michael Knight allowing the latter to happen.
Overall I enjoyed it but I still felt KITT just wasn't there. And yes, the entire movie played like a long Ford commercial.
Also, why did KITT lose some of his strenght? The original could still withstand bullets and damage while its computer was shutdown. Why could this one not? Seems like a huge downgrade and weakness IMHO. -

I watched the first half. It wasn't too bad. And yes, it was basically a really really long Ford commercial, and one hell of a commercial at that.

I agree. Show wasn't bad but I hope it gets better. I'd give it another episode or two before I give up on it. -
I thought it was a one time deal. Not a series. Am I mistaken?

No idea. For once, I avoided the background info on the show. -
According to Wikipedia, it's a backdoor pilot.
'Backdoor pilots
A backdoor pilot is a "pilot episode filmed as a standalone movie, so it can be broadcast if not picked up as a series". It is distinguished from a simple pilot in that it has a dual purpose. It has an inherent commercial value of its own while also being "proof of concept for the show, that's made to see if the series is worth bankrolling".' -
The intention is for it to be a series. The pilot / movie did all right (something like 13 million I think I heard) so I would imagine they'll move forward, but I haven't heard any news about it.If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I couldn't get passed the fact that its mustang now. Should have restored an old fire chicken for the movie/show.Big thanks to "Neskahi" !

Bring back the original voice
You should know him as William Daniels (upper left in the photo), who you may also remember as Dr. Craig on "St. Elsewhere".
-
Between the girl and the car, I'd watch more of it.

Kitt switches teams, oh the irony of it all  -

Somehow I miss having that show around even though I'm probably too old for its intended demographics. Must be Topanga. -

Just watching it now and the fight scenes are pretty much cheese.

Ford, I am thinking more GM in that one. Picked it up for $5 at Wally World.

I take it you never watched the original series? The fight scenes, imo, were very true to the original -

Nothin' on the horizon. Trans-Am or Firebird. If Camero does well it seems a natural next step to get Pontiac off life support if it still exsists. A soft economy and fuel prices may take the industry another direction (Thinking diesel for my next vehicle).
