I love the highs on the RTA 11T that is with me right now. I saw on newspaper ad a guy selling his RTA 11TL. I have seen mixed opinions regarding the tweeters. Will I get better sound using the 11TLs?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Nothing mixed about it, the SL3000 is much better than the SL2000. However, the RD0 replacements are better than either with the SL3000 replacement tweeter the better of the two. IMO, the short answer to your question is yes.Political Correctness'.........defined

Thanks for responding. I really appreciate it. The place is far from me so I can't test right now. I left a voice message but haven't got a call back yet. Anyways, I've got an original cd here from Sandi Patti. Her voice is high. I really like how she sounds on the 11T I have here right now. How will her high voice perform on the SL3000?

I can't say for sure, never listened to Sandi Patti, but anything should sound better thru the SL3000's.Political Correctness'.........defined

Ok. I should bring in my cd then. Hopefully this guy responds and not a fake ad. Or what can you say about highs between the 2 models?
Thanks again. -

Is the RD0 replacement applicable for 11T or is it just for the 11TL? -
RD0194-1 replaces the SL2000
RD0198-1 replaces the SL3000
I think the SL3000/RD0198-1 sound better than the SL2000/RD0194-1Political Correctness'.........defined

It's because I might be able to save $100 if I will be able to haggle the price on the 11TLs. -
nothing wrong with owning more than one pair of vintage speakers.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

My wife is going to kill me if I do that
I'll just bring in some cd to try them. However, I still have not receive a call yet. -
The 11Ts will be staying with me. I got a call from the seller and it got sold so quickly.

Can RD0198-1 be put on the 11Ts? Do you think I will hear a lot of improvements? What are the improvements that I will be hearing? Is it regarding instrument sounds? -
RDO 194 are the replacement tweeter. I don't think the 198 can be put in the T version easily (anything is possible). The 198 is the replacement for the TL version.
Order yourself some 194's and enjoy yourself. That's what I did, then I crossed the line and bought SDA's. For the record I did not know there was a line.

Can you be specific as to what improvements I will hear? Where do we buy this 194s? And am I correct that it's only the tweeter that needs to be replaced and not the crossover?
Thanks. -
You like the way they sound right? If you develop a sense of harshness from the SL2000 peak, then upgrade, if not then enjoy your speakers. I've never had a problem with the 2000s, but I did the upgrade to 194s. I don't regret it, but it wasn't/isn't night and day for me. Some really can't stand the 2000 and it must have to do with their hearing vs mine...but then I'm older and might need the spike to hear it .

If you love the highs, why would you want to change the tweeters. Everyone that is changing the tweeters on your speakers hates the highs.

WRONG!!!
You don't like the new tweeters, but you don't like the old ones either without slapping a cap on them. Time for you to pipe down, all you're doing is confusing people and you don't even know what you're doing, making matters even worse.Political Correctness'.........defined

I loved the sl2000's from day 1 but as I moved up the audio food chain which added more clarity, detail and power, they became a little brighter with every upgrade. The same thing would have happened with any tweeter.

Try the cap and do a side by side comparison of the sl2000wc (with cap) and the rd0194 and then we can have a discussion on this. -
Discussion about what? You don't even know the difference between a resistor and a cap. Pffft.Political Correctness'.........defined

Ok F1nut, once I get extra money, I will ask your guidance on how to install it and other parts I need to buy. What is a cap? Is this something that I should buy?
-
The tweeters (RD0194-1) are drop in replacements, nothing to it.
Cap is short for capacitor. There are some mounted on your crossover boards. You can upgrade from the stock ones, but why don't you take it a step at a time, do the tweeters first and worry about crossover upgrades later, if desired.Political Correctness'.........defined

I'm recommending $12 worth of caps that I've been using on my sl2000's for over a year instead of over $200 for new tweeters that he has no idea what they will sound like or if he will like them. I know what I would do if I was in his position.
-
by the way, can you tell if my tweeter is an SL2000 by just showing a picture? I know for sure that it is not an SL3000 because the text is horizontal and it says Silver Dome Coil. How does the RD0 look like? Anyone please with a picture?

It's ok. I'm sure that Polk Audio company made the RD0 to fix a bug in the previous version. I'm not against your recommendation but I would like to try Polk Audio's route first. If in case it doesn't work, then it's my lost. Then I will try your route for sure. I know my thinking is wrong/upside down because it's more expensive -
I'm glad you're comfortable making an informed decision. Be sure to install the new tweeter(s) in only one speaker so you can do a side by side comparison of the old versus the new.

Dude....this is getting old.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Or is it........................Spanky?.................................Sinner.

It's a good way to compare one tweeter to another. I haven't found a better way.
