Hi,

I have a small but annoying issue. Oddly enough I noticed that another person with the same speakers has this issue as well. So we figured we would post to this forum for input.

The problem: Both subs are set to auto, normal phase and in music mode. They are connected as full range speakers using the speaker interconnect. The problem is that the pilot light on one speakers stays on when there is no signal (as it should) and the other speakers pilot light goes out when the Amp powers down due to the lack of signal (which it should not). According to manual theses light should stay on as long as it is plugged in. Both lights are on when the speakers are active. The problem occures when the speakers are not receiving signal.

The subs seem to be working (Drivers moving and Air from bottom Power Port) and powering on and off when a signal is present.

Is this any indication of a problem or is this how they should operate. I say this becuase I have seen this same issue on another set which did not belong to me.

Any help from this great resource of knowledge would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Did you buy these speakers new? Have they always behaved like this?

I ask because if not, you may have one speaker with an old amp and one speaker with a newer amp.
I also have a pair of RT3000's. I bought them off of ebay, and I actually liked the fact that 2-3 minutes after I shut down the system both of the green lights on the speakers would shut off.
As soon as I turned things back on and the speakers got a signal the lights would turn on and speakers would come to life.
However the amps in the speakers were picking up a weak radio signal , which could only be heard when nothing was playing.
I tried everything to get rid of this signal but couldn't and finally sent the amps back to polk.
When I installed the new amps, the green lights of both speakers now stay on all the time when plugged in. Which is the newer amp design.

I purchased these off of EBAY recently. Interesting observation. So your saying on the new amp the light stays on all the time and the older amps it would shut off after a couple of minutes with no signal. I think you may be on to something. I am interested to see if others have input.

    Hello,
The original bass amplifier's, in the RT3000p, LED would go on and off as the unit went in and out of standby. When the amplifier was revised, improving the overall grounding scheme, the LED was set to remain on as long as the AC power cord is plugged in. This was done so it would agree with European requirements.
The CS1000p was always remaining on as long as the power cord remained connected. In all likelihood you have one speaker with an original amplifier and the second has a more recent version.
    Regards, Ken
