Hello, and welcome to the forum. Have you checked the surrounds? What have you changed lately in the system? Have you checked to make sure all connections are secure? Can you move the woofer in and out with no binding or obstruction?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

What do yu mean by the surrounds? These are the car speakers, installed about 18 months ago. Do you mean manually to pull up the woofer with my hands?
Thanks -
Hehe. No. I'm not familiar with your speakers and with some older and vintage speakers, the foam surrounds rot out causing a loss in the bass response. The surrounds are what connect the cone to the frame of the speaker itself.
What I meant was can you push gently the woofer in and let go of it without any physical obstruction or scraping?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Trietz,
These are car stereo speakers that are newer. But you are right on, the good one I can push in the center a little and the woofer moves in and out. The bad one seems stuck. Did the speaker go bad? only about 1 1/2 years old. -
Yes that woofer is bad, perhaps you should think about adding an amp to power those speakers also, while you replaced them.
