It really is something special to go see a movie there. I love taking someone that's never been there before. When the lights dim and the curtains draw to the side to expose this gigantic screen, you actually get crowds cheering just for that alone.

Maybe Micah can help me out as I'm not sure on the size of the screen, but it's way larger than any mulitplex screen. The Dolby Digital EX soundsystem is the best!!!

Anyone within driving distance really should make the trip. Directions are on the site. Heck, I'll even meet you there. I'm always game to see a movie there!
    No excuses!

There's nothing like seeing this movie or any other movie with a sold out crowd of 900 people.
Unless you see a movie with a sold out crowd of 1,250. That is the seating capacity of the Big Newport here in Newport Beach. If I ever go to the movies, I go here. I've been going to this theater from the days of Star Wars in '77. It's awesome!

Slowly.....very slowly. The nit picky, detail stuff seems to take forever just to get a little done. Let alone all the other house projects. We are on the tail end of remodeling the old Green Room, room and the Master bedroom.

My big goal over the holiday weekend is major cable management. I'm going to tear down all the gear, install new Monster interconnects and hide it all. I also plan on finishing the exterior portion of the roof.

I spent this past Sunday tweaking the exhaust and intake vents for the A/C unit (had problems with the intake taking in the cold air and turning itself off after 1 minute), it's fixed now and works great. I also installed 2 sheets of 5/8" drywall over the 1/2" drywall behind the seating. That back wall was resonating fairy bad and that second layer of drywall solved the problem.

    Thanks for asking.

I took my kids to see TTT this morning, it was sold out! But we had bought our tickets from Fandango!

This movie was incredible! If I didn't already know that Gollum was a CG character I never would have guessed! The movements and expressions were just so real looking. The scene where he argues with himself is worth the price of admission! I'm not a fanatic when it comes to the LOTR books/movies, but I must admitt that FOTR and TTT are now officially 2 of my all time favorites.

We actually had a really good crowd, only 1 cell phone rang (1 ring) and 1 baby started to cry, but the parents made a quick exit. That was nice of them! Most of the time they just hang around and try to get the kid to quit. 3 hours flew by, I wished there would have been more!

Did you see it at the big theater you mentioned in a previous post?

The second time around, I liked the movie even more. It was the same for the first one also.

You're correct. Fantasy films do not get any better. Lord of the Rings definitely raises the bar to a new level that I seriously doubt anyone will be able to beat.

John, I did not. There was a group of 8 of us and they did not have a showtime that worked out for all of us. I will be going there to see it (again) within the next couple weeks.

But first, I must see Star Trek: Nemesis again, that was very good as well. Best of the TNG movie line-up.

Sony Digital Sound is best, then comes DTS and last is Dolby Digital. My 2 Cents.

The Big Newport offers SDDS. I saw it with the dts track and it lacked bass. So much so that even when the wall to Helm's Deep was compromised, the explosion had almost no bass, disappointing to say the least. Hopefully the SDDS will be better.
