Second disc at the end. Go to the last scene in the menu and tab down. An icon of the two towers should appear. Click on it and you're gold. The bass at the end of this awesome trailer is ROOM SHAKING.

Yes. And Yes. It's frickin' great. Especially if you read it about 24 yrs ago. The dipiction and cinematography are great. My friend that didn't like the first one says that this is the best movie he's ever seen. I wouldn't go that far, but I'll see it in the theater again (and again).

Absolutely what a great movie!!! Like the first one, there's just so much to absorb.

The creature Gollum/Smeagol is incredible. This is hands down the best CGI character EVER! The split personality battle it has is amazing. This CGI character actually had feeling and emotions to it.

The Ents attack on Isengard kicked ****!!!

The Battle of Helm's Deep....WOW!!! You don't get to see many epic battles like that.

I'm assuming the DVD will be released with an extended version like the first one. It's gonna be sweet!

    No need to assume John.

Two Towers will arrive in a Extended DVD Edition: UPDATED!

So here you have it. A little week before the theatrical world premiere of The Two Towers, at least for common people. The details on the DVD. Yes, there will be a extended version of Part II and it will also be 30 - 35 minutes worth of extra film. CBBC recently talked with Peter Jackson and here is what he said when asked about the DVD:

"There's some great scenes - good stuff with Merry and Pippin and Treebeard. A couple of good Gollum scenes actually that we're going to put on the DVD that we didn't end up using in the film."

    Peter Jackson continues:

"There'll probably be about the same amount of footage roughly as there was for the Fellowship - about 30 - 35 minutes worth of footage. There's a lot of good stuff, strong scenes."

    --- UPDATED ---

From a interview on Lordoftherings.net PJ tells us about the battle at Helms Deep which also will be extended on the DVD.

"We've got a PG-13 battle scene, but it's a fairly gritty battle. It's about as far as we could possibly push it within that rating. We filmed some heads and limbs being chopped off which we've taken out. We'll probably put them back in the DVD, which will have an R rating."

So, there you have it. Now we will just have to wait until November next year...

There is no question each movie will follow the same MO: 1) theatrical version DVD in August; 2) EE version and super duper EE version both in November.

At the risk of incurring flames, it is my humble opinion that this is THE movie trilogy of the decade, and quite possibly of our lifetime.

No one thought it could be done - transferring the series to the screen was thought to be impossible and even if it could be done, it would suck. Not only did Peter Jackson et al do it - they did it stupendously and gloriously well. It is truly a towering (sorry) tribute to the author and movie making. It defines the state of the art.

I grew up with the series, I've read it many times and lived every scene in my mind's eye, and the screen translation is nothing short of epic - it exceeds my wildest expectations. For me personally - nothing else holds a candle to this trilogy.

Looking forward to the extended "Helm's Deep" battle. I also liked the sequence of Merry and Pippin with Treebeard.

The Two Towers is nominated for Drama - Best Picture and Best Director Golden Globes.

When this is all said and done, the Lord of the Rings trilogy will be the most successful and greatest trilogy ever!

    Star Wars what???? :D

I agree with you 100%, no flames here. In as much as I grew up on Star Wars and still love it (original trilogy), The Lord of the Rings, like you said, will possibly be THE trilogy of our lifetime. The BEST sci-fi fantasy EVER. Star Wars comes in a close second.

Lucas step off that high horse, there is a new rider in town, Peter Jackson.

One kick-**** scene in the EE is the extended scene with Legolas and his bow, that scene gives me chills it's so awesome.

I know exactely what you're talking about. The end battle in the EE FOTR where Legolas just stands there plucking off Orcs one after another. IT RULES!!!

He does his bow magic in The Two Towers. Actually, there's a scene where the group of them start riding away on horses. Legolas runs up to the horse that Gimli is riding and mounts it while it's riding away. It's quick, but it's the coolest **** thing!!!

    Legolas ROCKS!!!
Lucas step off that high horse, there is a new rider in town, Peter Jackson.

The newest Star Wars trilogy could have been great if Lucas would not have been such a control freak. It was too much about the effects and not nearly enough about the script and acting.

There's a new "Lord of the Trilogy"!!! :D

...and the effects can't hold a candle to what Jackson has done, Lucas's attempt as SE's are not near as good as Jackson's. I mean, there good, espically those in AotC, but the effects that Jackson has come up with are much more realistic looking than what Lucas has done.

I'm going to watch TTT next week during the Xmas break, until then I might just sneak in a couple more FotR EE viewings.

That was just me in a blonde wig reenacting my big game archery season. Legolas can't compare to the damage I wrought in the killing fields this year - pure carnage.

Two Towers movie I'd have to say was disappointing in some aspect. I know they don't always follow the book but they went way off course and just ruined it for me. I hope they make up for their bludners in the 3rd installment.

I agree - I finally caught the movie last night. I liked the first one better at first blush too. However, seeing it at the movies so totally sucked compared to my HT system that I have to wait for the DVD to pass final judgement.

The screen was too wide for the aspect of the movie and the fishbowl effect at the edges was making me nauseus, there were a few continuous thin vertical lines running through the entire picture which were enormously distracting, the picture resolution sucked, and the sound system was so lacking detail, surround effects, tonal quality, and bass I thought I was back in the 60's - what an effen joke. Home theater ALL THE WAY.

First impressions - too much Gollum, Sam's speech at the end was contrived, and they needed to show the turn of the battle at Helm's Deep - Gandolf shows up with reinforcements and I was expecting a total **** whooping and - what happens? Next to NOTHING - suddenly the battle's over - totally left me hanging there.

Plusses - acting continues to be excellent, all battle and action scenes were fabulous, the pacing is decent for a three hour movie, and several differet story lines are pretty well fleshed out without making the movie too disjointed - a heckofa feat for a movie this complex.

I am with you all the way. People with HT's saying they are going to see it over and over again at the local theater. Shame on you.
Love my HT and will wait it out for the dvd. I also read many DVD reviews and I love it when they the the picture and sound quality of the DVD was much better than the theatrical version. Puts a huge smile on my face. Did I mention I love my HT!!!!!:D

Other than your HomeTheater, there's only one true theater to see it multiple times...

    http://www.senator.com/HISTORY/THEATREHISTORY.HTML

I'm sorry all you guys don't have one of these in your town. Multiplexes...give me a break!!! There's nothing like seeing this movie or any other movie with a sold out crowd of 900 people. No babies crying, no cell phones ringing, etc...everyone behaves when they come here or else they are thrown out!
