1 pair, excellent condition. 2nd owner, can't find a scratch or ding on them. Original boxes and materials. NO velvet bags. Very sweet little speaker, I just have no use for them in this color anymore.

If these were in Aafrican Hazelwood I'd be all over them. Still going to think about it. Damn fine speakers @ a pretty decent price. More bass slam than any bookshelf I've heard.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

I hear ya. I'm on the hunt for a pair in dark cherry. -
So did the Dynaudio's win the battle?
Great speakers and a great price. They last only a few hours in Audiogon, so don't think too much..._________________________________________________

Are these wall-mountable, a la Polk bookshelves?

How are these with rock music? Damn, I've almost pulled the trigger on some of these a couple times already :rolleyes:2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. nope.
Thanks, Victor. I may use the Kavent and the Parasound HCA-1000 in a bedroom rig and only want to wall-mount some bookshelves to keep the floor space clear and open and more dog-proof.

Since you are looking for a pair in a darker finish would you consider trades? I have a pair of Roksan Rok One's in a very nice Rosewood finish. They are also two ways and cost about $1200 new, if memory serves correct. Also, I'm not too far from you so a handoff could be arranged. I don't really need any more speakers but I always enjoy listening to a new sound...
-
I wouldn't say the Danes "won", but overall the Danes "won" the position on my home office which is also my main listening room. I still want a pair of VR-1 in my bedroom.
The SoundStage! review is spot on.
http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/vonschweikert_vr1.htm
These are unique and interesting speakers. They are a bit forward and sound big, but not bright or harsh at all. Off axis response and detail are amazing, you don't have to be in the sweet spot to enjoy these little gems. They mate well with tubes or laid back gear, and can be quite magical with the right combo. They're 8ohms and efficient, you don't need 200wpc to make these babies sing. 5-10 tube watts will fill your ears with aural extacy.
anonymouse: The LSi9 is a bit more refined when compared to the VR-1, and the LSi9 is also much much more picky about placement. The VR-1 is more musical than other more refined speakers like the LSi9. Detailed and realistic. They really are a unique experience. Overall presentation, imaging, etc. is big and up front. Bass is tight and accurate, and suprisingly low when placed right. They remind me a bit of electrostatic speakers.
dragon1952: It's really going to depend on the electronics you use. I like rock, but wouldn't recommend metal on these. If want to rock out with your @ock out, I'd recommend adding a sub and some refined gear to mate with them.
Texas42, I'd be interesting in hearing them. I'd need to know specs, as I will need some efficient speakers rated at 8ohms for my next rig. I'm really interested in the VR-1 still though. -
I'm not sure about the specs but will check. My guess would be these are about 91 db efficient. I've had no problems powering them with anything I have thrown at them...
-
Crap.....I'll take them. PM sent
BTW, I don't get up real early so I probably won't check back in until around 9AM PST.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. I don't know how refined my system is but I'm hoping they'll have great synergy with what I have to work with. Room is 12W x 16L x 8H.

I had the VR-2's paired with a TAD-60 tube amp and it drove them pretty good until I got into high spl. Then the TAD ran out of steam. This is a smaller, less demanding speaker so I think you'll be fine.
FWIW - Von Schweikert recommends break in with LOUD rock music. The VR-2's handeled EVERYTHING I threw at them.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro
