Got my router today. I have 2 pc's on the network via wired. When both on my interent connection crawls at a snails pace. Is this normal, or is there a tweak that can improve it?

I have the same router with two computers hardwired to it, as well. A crawling Internet is not normal when both are surfing at the same time. Have you tried contacting Linksys?HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

No I havent called Linksys yet, I didnt know it this is a common problem. It could be just the internet right now. Because it seems intermediate.
Although my son just shut his pc off and things did seem to speed up.Monitor 7b's front

That's not normal for any router, whether it's Linksys, Netgear, etc.
You mentioned that your son shut off his PC and things sped up; do you have the right software loaded on to his computer to protect from viruses, trojans, etc ?
My guts are telling me that your son may have downloaded a hitchhiker along with the latest Paris Hilton video.
LATE EDIT: I assume you have a broadband connection; if you have dialup, you'll definitely slowdown.Sal Palooza -

I have cable broadband connection, I just check my interent speed. with cnet. I'm usually between ~1.5mbs cable/dsl. Now I'm at 316kbs.
I think its COX, because I got the same thing running my modem directly to my pc. So the slower connection must be a coinsidence. Unless there is something wrong with my pc. I just overclocked it, I wonder it that has anything to do with it. But overclocking should not have anything to do with my ethernet connectionMonitor 7b's front

Agreed not normal. Check all settings and make sure you have it setup properly.
On a side note, I have always had problems with Linksys. I got tired of rebooting all the time. I would slow down all the time or not connect at all unless you rebooted it. I had a total of 4 different Linksys routers all wireless and hardwired.
I tried D link and they where worse. I moved on the Apple Extreme and I can't be happier. I have yet to have to reboot. It just works exaclty how it's suppost to. I have alot of things on it.
I got 1 hardwired Pc, 1 Wireless Imac , 1 Hardwired mac Mini , 1 Wireless Pc notebook, Xbox 360 hardwired , Ps3 wireless , WII wireless , 2 iphones wireless , 2 Nintendo Ds wireless. My family there is always someone online doing something. there are times when 4 or more are on at the same time with no problems , lag or anything. The Apple Extreme is the very best Router I have ever owned. It's gigabit and runs perfectly(knocking on wood).Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
Well , I just put my clock speed back to normal and wired the pc directly to the modem. Tested @ 295kbs, compared to 1.5mbs (what I was averaging). Must be the cable company...Monitor 7b's front

I was gonna say it's the modem/company.
Try pinging. Click START > then RUN....type CMD. In the prompt, try "ping www.google.ca -t".
Pinging google.ca [64.233.161.104] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 64.233.161.104: bytes=32 time=39ms TTL=244
Reply from 64.233.161.104: bytes=32 time=42ms TTL=244

Reply from 64.233.161.104: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=244
Putting the -t at the end makes it go on forever, so press CTRL+C to stop it.
You should get 20-40 ms pings, with not a single line dropped. -

Glad you found the problem and it's the cable company...
Let me just add one word about the Linksys. Go to thier web site and make sure you have the latest firmware. They are always updating as thier users find problems. That has solved most of my intial problems that I have had with my Linksys routers.Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid. ..... I did, I went through my whole system before resorting to phone calls..
Everything checked out fine on my end, it was just pure coinsedence that the cable company slows down right when I hook the Linksys up. I wish Linksys had an automatic update.Monitor 7b's front

I agree with that.
That is amazing timing that your cable company slows down at the same time your hooking the router up. I hate it when chance throws something into the trouble shooting.

FYI. I have the exact model. Sometimes, it needs to be rebooted. Happens about once a quarter. Mine is on 24/7.
