Let's just say that you had a windfall of 2K and you were going to spend it on your rig.....how would you spend it.

Me?

I'd probably sell my VPI HW-19 MkIV table (any takers? ;)) and move in to a Scout Master and a step up transformer.

At this point, I'm feeling Conrad Johnson naked. I'd like a Premier 10 pre and possibly a premier 11A or premier 12 monos. Just to HAVE. Not that they would 'replace' my Melos/Heaths but just to have.

Finally get a used Aleph 30 or other Nelson Pass amp. Purchase some truly high end cables and see how much improvement I notice. Perhaps a new listening couch too.

I'd get the best CD / SACD player I could find for $1K and spend the other $1K + sale of my Thiel CS1.2s to get some Thiel CS2.3s or something a bit more full-range.

I actually made an offer on a local Marantz SA-14 (the one that's been on Agon for about 3 months). If he goes for it (although he already balked and countered), I'll sell my current transport - DAC combo to pay for it.

I tried to pick up some Thiel 2.2s locally as well, but wasn't committed enough to get them at asking price and lost out to another.

I've been telling myself I should pull the trigger and buy one ever since I had about a 2 hour demo several years ago. Since I have no real issues with my current player(s), I've just never gotten around to it.

I would buy a nice TT and RCM and accessories. New speaker wire, and the rest(if any) I would put towards room treatments.

    Where's my 2k?
I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

I changed my mind. If I had $2K, I would sell my entire rig except for speaker cables, Monster HTS 5100SS, and TT. . . . and get one of these: Musical fidelity KW250S

    MF all in one.jpg
    and some bigger Thiels.

It would make life so much simpler / sweeter.

You don't want to go down that road :). There are some rediculous prices out there for power cords, and they remain dependent on the fact that the rest of your wiring is just as good... which leads you to upgrading your entire house to "audiophile" quality wiring, breakers, and outlets... just in case you want to plug your clock radio into a different outlet :D

Well, this is just my opinion: If you live in a 70yr old home with ancient knob and tube cloth wiring, I don't think changing the last few feet of wiring (power cord) will make much of a difference if the house wiring is bad. Say you have a refrigerator plugged in on the same circuit...when that frige turns on there will be a voltage drop in the circuit no matter what power cord you use.
