Hi all, new to the home theater setup and I have what is probably a basic question. I purchased a DENON 3808 receiver and the Polk RM6880 speakers and sub. I installed everything and it all works except my subwoofer, during auto setup, the receiver does not find the subwoofer. It's connected directly to the receiver using a single to dual RCA Cable to the Line In connections on the subwoofer. It doesn't read a thing in either auto or manual setup. Help please.

I am not familiar with that receiver. Is there a menu selection to choose sub' yes or no'? Usually there is.

    Just to check over things:

Sub (LFE) channel out on AVR?

    Sub in on sub?

Does the sub play with test tones generated by the AVR?

Is the sub level on the AVR turned up?

Is the sub volume turned up?

And your sure about your connections?

AVR: Sub-yes, front left and right - small or large + LFE?

Sounds like he has a Y adapter going to the sub.Use one single coax cable from the receiver to line in on the back of the sub. There is,or should be a pre out marked "SUB" on the back of the receiver.

Hey, I have the same receiver, and ran into the same problem. What you need to do is turn the Sub volume way up on the receiver itself. Then adjust the volume accordingly on the subwoofer volume control.

    Center: Polk CSi5
    Surrounds: Polk FXi3

    Game Console/Blu-Ray: PS3
    Satellite: DirecTV HD-DVR (HR21)

Why would you have to treat that AVR any different than any other AVR? Denon knows better than that.

Don't know, however that was the resolution from both Denon and Crutchfield tech support. Seems to work though...Color me stumped :)
