I saw a recent article on what some people thought was the best console of all time and I decided that they only choose a small subset of all serious consoles.

So, what do you think was the best console of all time?

Probably the game I enjoyed the most was baseball in my Intellivision....

The Super Nintendo was indestructible. I gave my little cousin my old one years ago, and it STILL works today with the Super Street Fighter cartridge.:confused:He won't give it back.

Unfortunately it's impossible for me to separate my obvious nostalgia for things like Super NES or even Atari from their actual awesomeness.

Everything video game related is more awesome when you're 10. Give my 10-year old self a PS3 and it would be the most awesome.

I agree Bob. When I was 12 Nentendo was the bomb, now I'm older, the 360 is the bomb. But I had more fun with nentendo @ 12 years old. This was a hard question for me.

But I looked at it as, if I had my choice of any age and any consol. I would pick the 360.

    Uhhh...there's no Dreamcast option.

That's the one I consider the best.

Not necessarily in graphics but overall.

i think i voted in haste. i went for 8 bit nintendo. but yes, super nintendo really got me into researching and waiting for games and really beginning to appreciate newer technology. i.e. improved graphics and sound.

Where's the Sega Dreamcast? Seriously, Atari 2600 is there but no DC. I won't be voting.

I guess you can tell what my favourite is. I'm not the only one either, so don't rip me a new one.

p.s. I still use my DC with the custom built joysticks I made. Capcom vs SNK 2 for the WIN!!!

No Dreamcast? That's crazy talk. I actually have 2!

I still remember 9/9/99 like it was yesterday. I was in awe playing Sonic that night.

What do you mean BACK INTO gaming? When the original NES came out, the only things before it were Pong, Intellivision and Atari. When did you have time to fall OUT of gaming?

So what your saying is that the Atari 2600 wasn't a big part of gaming history? That's what I'm talking about. After the 2600, the gaming industry pretty much crashed until the NES. The NES got me BACK INTO gaming. Let me know if you need more details...I'll have my secretary write something up for you.

The NES was a cool console as well, but I hated when the games got dust inside, and you had to blow the dust out or tap on the cartridge to get it to play. You guys remember the blinking screen! That never happened with the SNES.

I remember that. I used to work at a gaming store and we would constantly have to blow in the NES games and clean the contacts before we sold them.

Why are some people crazy about the Dreamcast? It was great fun, but wasn't out long enough for for more than a small number of great games, most which (like Soul Calibur and Rez) have already been heavily improved upon.

I vote SNES -- so many good memories.

I've got to go with Atari. It was the only gaming system that I never really got tired of playing.

Modern day...I would definitely give the nod to the Xbox 360 for all out gaming. But I do give a lot of credit to Nintendo for putting out a truly unique system in the Wii.
