Hi all.Obviously Im new here, but not new to HT.

I just picked up a Pioneer VSX-94TXH Elite AVR.Its rated at 140 wpc and now Im looking to upgrade my smaller bookshelf speakers. The deal at Frys for the RTi 10's seems kind of hard to pass up.I went and listened to them and I really liked them.

My question is will 140 watts be enough for these monsters? Im not looking to add amps.I will be running these just from the reciever.Im also looking at buying a pair of Def Tech BP10's,anyone have a comparison between the two?

Thanks

I just bought the "94". Powering RT800i (20w-240w) and CS400i. Wow, I was abusing these speakers with my previous Sony receiver.

Where else are you going to get more power without going seperates?

Crank it up and give a listen. I think you will be pleased.

    Thanks for the help Mike.

How do you like the "94"?? I was at BB the other day and they had an openbox marked 1439.00.A guy comes up to me and says" If you like it Ill give it to you for 50% off" I said sold.I got it for 717.00.I dont think it was even used.So far its pretty confusing.

Yes you can use a receiver, though they would benefit from a seperate amp. That pioneer has a beefer amp section, you should be ok as long as you keep the volume below concert levels.

Gizmo99,I cant PM you until I have 10 posts.

Anyway I got it at a BB here in Socal. They dont have anymore. As a matter of fact when I went to another BB and mentioned it they almost couldnt believe it.I think that has to be very close to their cost.

1st off welcome to the forum.

Your pioneer Elite is a perfect match for those speakers. it sounds great and can play as loud as you can stand it. It has plenty of power and alot of reserve for dynamic passes.

As far as the 94, I love it. Hell I like it so much I would use it as a preamp in my theater to get the benefits of true 1.3a HDMI switching and full decoding of all current audio formats over HDMI. I install them alot and find it can handle higher end speakers. I also mate it alot with Focal speakers and it sounds awesome. I like Pioneer Elite alot more then Denon, Yamaha , Integra , HK and others. It's simply fantastic.

Great choice and sounds like your on your way to a really nice system .

LOL!! I dont think that will work.Im not sure the guy who sold it to me was supposed to even sell it at that price. When I went to the other BB I mentioned, the sales guy was kind of grilling me.He wanted to know his name.To be honest I dont even know. All I know is that I got the deal of the century, well at least in my mind.

Nice score...I have not seen much more than a couple hundred dollars below MSRP from an authorized dealer.

Loving the '94' so far. Just wish OSD was better, both in appearance and functionality.

Oh, BTW unless you are using 7.1, you can reassign the Back Surrounds posts to bi-amp your fronts!
