Lsi speakers set up

I had two LSi25, two Lsi15, one Lsi center, one PWS1000 with Onkyo TX-SR804.

1. Does TX-SR804 have enough power for all speakers? If not, what amplifier do I need?

2. How do I set up the speakers?

Thank you

When I had a Onkyo I went to external amps. Onkyo does not have the ump/reserve current capabilities as an external amp. Very nice speaker choices. LSi25 Front R & L, LSi15 Side R & L. Awesome for 5 channel and/or SACD's.

You need a 5 channel amp my friend,200 watts each channel.Thats for you Cathy.....And 5 I/C'S to hook it up.Lots of speaker cable, too numerous to mention. You can start by placeing the speaks where you want them and running the auto set up in the receiver. You most likely will have to tweek here and there after.

I'd say before you do anything, hook it up and try it! No harm done as long as it is capable of 4 ohms. If you don't like the sound from there, then get a new amp. But no harm for trying.

I hook them up per advise. Sound is good from Front ans Sub not much sound from Center and surrounding , and it is not as good as I listen from demontration at Fry's. They used RTi9, CSi5,LSiFX, PSW505 and Onkyo 805 (130 WPC).

I wonder if I use 7.1 170WPC Reciever, Do I still need Amplifier?

    Yes.

Also get an SPL meter to set the sound levels for each channel.

Sell the Onkyo and go seperates. If you really like the sound of Onkyo, check out the Integra DTC8.9 and it's 5 channel or 7 channel amp.

Welcome DFW. Here is the answer directly from Polk Paul. I hope this answers your question & you start shopping for a 200wpc or more separate amplifier.

"Gee, so many questions...so little time.

Let's see if I remember the issues:
The side driver on the LSi15 is an not a passive radiator, it is an "active" 8" woofer but not self powered. The driver on the LSi25 is a 10" powered woofer. I made an oops or two on the specs that I'll fix in a moment. Alzheimers kickin' in again....

The drop in efficiency and impedance are inter-related. Let's start at the top - speaker design is largely a matter of balancing trade-offs. You trade off efficiency for flatter response. As this models are aimed at serious audio hobbiest customers, we thought it reasonable to trade off efficiency and impedance for flatter response and other audible benefits. Yes, you need a better amp to drive these puppies, so if you have mid-level electronics, LSi is not for you.
Circuit City will not carry LSi. We will have an LSi-specific dealer list within a couple of weeks. If you'd like to see your local specialist dealer carry LSi, ask them for it. Dealers respond to consumer demand."

I believe the 15's impedance curve drops down to 2 ohms. You're going to need a high current external amp.

enough with this "200wpc or more" b.s. already. Just make sure the amp has proper current, is 3-4ohm stable, and comes from a reputable brand.

It's not BS & you know it. Most people are ecstatic with that much power driving their speakers. If you want I'll be happy to go through and post links to all the happy 200wpc & up owners on here!

That much power gets the job done for any and all speakers without the need of upgrading once it is in place.

If it didn't do the job, all of these companies wouldn't be designing them & selling them right & left.

Lots of power is needed to get the most out of any HT system with all those speakers. It's also needed to drive 4ohm speakers.

Do it once, do it right, then sit back and enjoy.

If you don't want to purchase that much power than don't. But don't go around saying that it's not needed or it won't work!

You do need power to drive these. We listened to some LSi9's recently in Vancouver and they were dramatically underpowered. They did not sound all that great. BTW, I own the 9's and with 250wpc they sound great.

Because a amp has 200wpc doesn't mean anything except it has 200 wpc.
