Ratatouille, why DD 5.1 sounds better PCM 5.1?

I asked this over at BluRay Forum but they don't got an answer.

I have my Ps3 hooked up via HDMI and tested the following

1) PS3 set to PCM + Ratatouille set to play PCM
2) PS3 set to BitStream + Ratatouille set to play Dobly Digital + PL2 DSP is on I think.

#2 plays so much nicer with more 3D and space, vocals are also more clear.

Question1: Should PCM but the superior one? Is something in my setup wrong?

Question2: Does anyone got Ratatouille got the bluyRay on hand to quickly test this out?

Question3: Could it be that my Yamaha DSP is doing the work to make it sound better?

Thanks

if i read correctly and even still this may have nothing to do with it. but, i read an article that was from about a year ago that said that DTS was going to be a standard format on all HDDVD and BluRay Discs along with a DD track as well. so when i watch a HDDVD like Bourne Ultimatum i can tell my HDDVD player (xbox 360) to use the DTS track always. could this be whats happening to you? also, isnt PCM basically lossless? this also would explain why it sounds so much clearer and detailed. all my thoughts though i really have no real idea
