I'm not looking to add the flavor of the month, which tubes characterize.
I have to disagree Phil. I've heard tube gear that sounds more neutral than SS and vice versa. Anyone that thinks SS doesn't color the sound doesn't know audio very well.
Who's to say what the original flavor was as we weren't there in the recording studio, nor were we at the control panel, tweaking the sound to what the engineer thought sounded best to his ears. One also has to remember that any number of recordings are made using tube gear and from my experience those recordings are some of the best made. Steve Hoffman is a prime example, David Manley is another.
Pick your poison and enjoy, but the talk about SS gear being more true to the original is pure bunk and the talk about tubes being high maintenance or costly usually comes from folks who haven't tried tubes in their set up. The truth is they don't have to be either.Political Correctness'.........defined

I like the way JBL L-100's sound on Krell equipment ...

Natural sound does not have edge. Edge is due to the medium, not because the artist wants it there. Natural sound can be fast and at a particular tone that can be painful but this is still different than edge.
That Eric Clapton unplugged cd that was referred to earlier in the thread is a pretty edgy cd. I have an all tube setup and I still find it edgy. To me it is the medium when not done properly more so than SS vs. tube. My system is very detailed and it is all tubes.
Congrats and enjoy Phil.

A lot of great comments & opinions on this topic. That's why they make vanilla & chocolate. Both flavors taste great & offer satisfaction depending on your liking."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up.

I also think as you get into better gear, they tend to sound a lot more similar than different.Modwright SWL 9.0 SE (6Sons Audio Thunderbird PC with Oyaide 004 terminations)

Then I heard what Krell is all about & I simply enjoy it more than the CJ/Krell combo. The level of detail & realism is just so much more prevelent with the Krell combo. I'm not looking to add the flavor of the month, which tubes characterize.
My plan from the beginning
I guess we are going in opposite directions, you are now going to all SS, while I gave up my SS amp for the Hybrid. Each will perform only as their speakers dictate. Now you can never give give up the AAD's or else you will have to start all over again from scratch.

Well your plan worked!! All I can say is that my AAD's have never, ever sounded so damn good. It's just incredible what great system synergy can sound like.
Also, the CA 840C is one player that should be on your very short list (like right at the top), Even with RCA cables, it's phenominal."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up.
