Config is RM201-2 and 202 plus 101-2 satelites. PSW 125 sub. Onkyo 505 amp. My question is "Why is the volume so low till you get to about 50 percent on the reciever" Hope that makes sense. What adjustments in receiver do i need to make so I dont have to turn amp up so much.

Thanks

PS sounds great when you crank it up

It's a common thing in most receivers. My old receiver behaved the same way - it was a scale from -85(mute) to 0(max) and a comfortable level was around 30-35. Now using a different preamp with an analog volume control (actual knob turning an actual potentiometer rather than digital) I barely break the 9 o'clock position and it only goes down to about the 7 o'clock position.

As long as you're careful to not push your receiver too hard and into clipping it's not a big deal. There are a few variables that get thrown into play when it comes to volume levels such as room size, speaker sensitivity, input source (cd player, mp3 player etc..), and mostly the electronics themselves.
