Monitor 10's inspected by Matthew Polk?

I just picked up a pair of what appeared to be god-awful Monitor 10's. Two hours and forty q-tips later, they are making me pretty freakin' happy. One speaker has an 'inspected by' paper stapled to the back which states that the pair was inspected by initials M-something-P.

Is this unusual for a Monitor 10? Did Matthew Polk actually test the pair I have? I assume I have an early model...the kind with grey-ish card-boardish seals behind the standard. Will post pics.

There is a reason that most companies do not use your initials for your e-mail address. Excellent chance Polk has someone besides Matt with the initials M P.
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

I'm thinking this guy has the "Golden Monitor 10's" and he is entitled to a free trip to POLK HQ where he gets to meet all the very busy oompa loompa's.

I'll send a picture of the initials. I'm not trying to make some kind of claim to fame, I'm just trying to determine what the chances are given the fact that they are def. first run.

If I get the free trip you wrote about, I'll toss it over to you as it seems you definitely have the time on your hands to make the trip. I'm busy living my life and treating people with respect.

I'm calm I'm calm...just replying in kind. I actually chuckled when I read the reply that p'ed me off. Off to the juicer room with me!

I don't think it's all that far of a cry, and I'm somewhat surprised that I couldn't find any threads in regards to 'inspected by' tags.

That being said -anyone have any advice on how to care for dry seals? I wanted to find a second series with the milky silk tweeters but I've already fallen in love with the earlier model.

They have an entirely black tweeter with the dimple or whole...whatever you want to call it.

I found them for $40. Should I try to turn them over locally and go for a latter pair with better seals?

    Should this thread now move?

Yo Dave, does the below quote sound like ****?

Considering it came from the mouth of a ....nevermind, yea I'd consider that ****.

Regardless, it's entirely possible that he inspected some of his products himself. Did you know that Ben inspects, tastes, and approves every batch of Ben & Jerry's ice cream you eat? Used to anyway before selling the company to Unilever.

I don't understand the question exactly but if you bought those tweeters ( the ones with the hole ) use THEM. I am assuming that is what came with the 10's originaly. Right? If so I don't think you could find a better tweeter for those speakers. I beleive you have to change the crossover if you switch tweeters. Any way if those weren't the tweeters that came with your speakers I will gladly take them off your hands.:D

What are these dry seals you speak off? Are they lost and can't find water?:D

I always wondered why there was a spoon sized crater every time I opened one up. Thanks Mark.
Hope he didn't have a cold sore that week or Cooties.

    Congrats on the Mon-10 find.

They certainly sound like an early production run with Peerless tweets. As long as the drivers are original, there's a chance you can date them by checking the back of the drivers to see if the date is there.
    Enjoy 'em.

FWIW: My feeling was that Ron's post was done with tongue in cheek.

If it's MSP, you might be correct but if it's only MP, nope.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
