Totem Storm & Martin Logan Depthi subs...

Yeah, I'm still kicking around the idea of adding a sub strictly for two channel. HT is well covered with my SVS cylinder. Any thoughts on these two guys? They both come well reviewed. There's a hugh difference in price though, the Storm in approx. 1k less than the ML. From what I can gather they are both extremely musical & fast.

You need a 12 step program.

There is a nice looking depth on the 'gon right now. Snag the hell out of it. I want to hear your thoughts.

The Depth is a proven well musical sub. I love it to death. I believe Martin Logan from day one has entered and mastered the sub market. I was shocked the first day and to this day Impressed with there subs. Not just the Depth but the entire line.
Simply amazing.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
You will have no regrets at all. ML makes some very nice subs and they perform very well in HT too. They look small (and they are) but perform as though they are 3X's there size. Fast and accurate.

Oh hell, I'll respond here as well. It's a matter of determining what you want.
The little Storm will be slightly quicker, and will have a big leg up in regards to tone.
The Logan's are no slouch for speed - having a big leg up on clean, dynamic output.
You could have at least changed the wording a little! From what I can gather they both are excellent performers. The ML is about twice as expensive as the storm, I'm wondering if it will perform 2x better? These are the tough decisions one must make. I think it's time for my prozac now."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up. -
I'd go with one totem to start. If it leaves you wanting more, get a second one.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850 -
I second Andy's suggestion. Even if you decided to go a different direction (ACI, for example)... I'd go with the less expensive sub and get two of em'. They will be FAR easier to integrate and will give you true left/right separation. The difference's are huge. Once you go dual sub's - there ain't no goin' back *unless its no subs*.
Depending on which preamp I decide to keep...the Krell or CJ. If it's the Krell (I'm leaning that way ) The ACI subs won't work. The way they do the hook up they use the RCA on the power amp. I'm running in balanced mode. I already emailed ACI & they said that at this time they have nothing in the works for balanced connection hookups. They do it completely differently than other sub manuf.
I do like the idea of dual subs. Why is that easier to set up vs a single sub. I would think it's a tougher integration. I'm a novice when it comes to sub set ups."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up.
