While its true that SQ competitors usually have their subs crossed over very low like 40'ish, this isnt because its the best sounding option. 99.9% of the time its for imaging.

Most SQ cars have the subs in the rear except for those that are heavily modified and usually anything over 63 Hz starts pulling to the rear quite noticeably and that can kill your imaging scores which make up over 1/3 of your total score.

You also have to realize that the vast majority of the music listened to by SQ judges and tuned for by competitors aint nothing like what youll listen to while driving to work. Classical, jazz and a lot of stuff with stand up bass in it which is EXTREMELY hard to reproduce accurately.

For my SQ setup I have my sub cut off at 40 Hz. For my daily driving its 63 because Id rather have the sub pull to the rear a little more in order to have a little more bass.

Lastly, I think the problem is that youre trying to get 8's to perform like 10's. If youre wanting sub 40 Hz response, an 8 isnt the best thing regardless how many youve got. Youve got to have the right tool for the job. Get a single 10 if youre after big sub 40Hz performance. My single MM2104 plays the 18 Hz note on the IASCA disc and the 25 Hz not on the MECA disc with ease.

if a driver is balls enough, getting in the mid 20's shouldn't be a problem with the power and box to accomodate. Especially coming from the home audio side of things. In car, it's usually harder but I've heard MANY 8's hit like 10's and 12's before. JL 8W6's of old... Old Solobarics... Image ID8...

I tried to resist the urge to read this post, but I did. I will withdraw myself from this forum.

So you take issue with one person on a forum and put them on ignore yet still can't resist the urge to look at the post and get further ticked off and take your ball and go home?

Fine, whatever dude. That's your decision. You ain't hurtin' me none. You're not the first person to tell me you don't like me and you aren't the last.

I'm just going to make sure that my point is clear here. I came here hoping to find like-minded people to share my installation with and talk about car audio. Apparently this isn't the place for that. I am not scared to post nor am I worried about what anyone thinks of me on the internet. Meet me in person, then judge. I have helped anyone and everyone that I can with car audio or anything else in life and honestly if you insulted me here and I know it's you on the side of the road with a flat tire or broken down, I'll still stop to help. I am just a better person than bad-mouthing on the internet.

On a second subject I talked to a Polk Audio representative and they were of no help to me on the subject. I was simply told that "8's just don't reach the low notes." If that's the truth, in my opinion, they should not advertise a frequency responce that reads 26 - 200 Hz, it's simply not true in the enclosure they recommend nor in free field testing, nor on a baffle....the Klippel does not lie. I am lucky enough to be in Germany and know enough of the right people to spend some time with some rather nice test equipment. I do not know how to use it, but the person that did the testing agreed with my findings. I am in no way saying that Polk Audio is junk. I have a set of RT600i home speakers that I love and I look forward to buying the SR6500 set. I just think they gave into the small enclosure marketing trends that are rampant these days.

After this, if you want to bad mouth me or put me down here, feel free, but I won't see it as this is definitely the last moment I am going to spend on this site at all. If you have any reason to confront me, want to discuss anything my e-mail address is GLN305@hotmail.com . My phone number in Germany is 0114916092542166. I will be back in the US by the end of April, so that number will not be any good after that.

eloplayspolo, that remark you made even though edited is still a low shot. One thing is to throw shots at someone, quite another when you get their family involved.
