DSW Pro 600 problem

I bought this DSW Pro 600 to upgrade my PSW303 that i was running. This thing is a monster, and really rocks, but it keeps going into its "protection" mode I think. When i turn it on, it works perfectly, and it never seems to turn off while I'm using it, even if I crank up the volume. But whenever I turn off my system and come back at a later time, the Red LED is lit on the back. The first time, I read the manual and it said to unplug the unit for 15 minutes and then plug it back in. This does work, but it keeps happening, Ive had to unplug it and plug it back in every day this week.
Any idea of what might be going on?

I did buy this at Tweeter, and they have a 60 day defective exchange guarentee, but id prefer to take care of this here if at all possible.

Thanks for any help
Brian

I would swap it out for another one, while you can. That is not right, it's new, get another one.

PS, I am loving mine, it is a very nice subwoofer.
    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

Check to see if the on/off switch is in the stand-by position. If it is, what you are experiencing is normal. In stand-by mode, the sub switches off automatically when no signal is detected for 15 minutes. It automatically turns on when a signal is detected. Check to see if this is the case.

You need to exchange it. When mine is in standby the light is amber. red is a protection fault indicator per my manual. Had my 600 for a week now and seems to work fine. good luck

ok, after some more experimenting, it seems that maybe it isn't going into protection mode, but just doesn't turn on when i am watching tv. If i just watch some tv, even on stations broadcasting dolby digital, I'm thinking that there isn't enough of a signal to kick it on. I was watching something, the sub wasn't on, and i went over and flipped it on manually, and it started playing some soft bass. If i play music through my music server, it kicks on right away or if i turn the volume up loud enough it seems to kick on. My question is how much of a signal does this thing require to turn on? I dont' want to have to crank the volume up to get it to turn on and then turn everything down.

I am running the sub of my pre-outs on my Denon 3806, because the bass was very weak out of the LFE jack. It sounds much better running out of the pre-outs with it set to no sub in reciever settings. Can I up the bass in the reciever settings and turn down the volume on the sub to compensate for volume level, and will this fix my problem???

Turn the gain down on your sub and the gain up on your receiver/preamp to compensate. I had a similar problem until I upgraded my sub cable.

Most channels do not broadcast an LFE channel, even if the signal is DD.

To make sure there is no issue, I would shut down your system, come back later and listen to something that definitely has an LFE signal (DVD). If it comes back on, its just going into standby while not in use. After several minutes of no signal, it will definitely go into standby... its designed that way :)

You could try using a Y-splitter on both the right and left inputs of the sub, it will boost your signal and could help you out a little.

    Something like this...
