I've read a lot of good things about the MX-800, but isn't there a problem with all the URC Professional Line remotes in that they are intended by URC to be installed by professionals (hence the name)? I was under the impression that URC would no longer allow private individuals (who buy on e-Bay or elsewhere) to update the software unless bought from an authorized dealer. AFIK, for the same reason, they will not offer ANY customer support or warranty if you are not an authorized installer unless you bought from an authorized non-installer outlet such as surfremotecontrol.com.

Have you figured out a way around this (how have you been getting your updates), or am I completely mistaken?

I did buy it from surf remote and the software has all the updates on the cd
So there will be no problems getting all the updates, And I do have some friends that are installers and I am able to easily get around that with both my remotes.:)

When you register the remote with Your name and the number under the battery compartment it will kick into a 1 year warranty, it is totally transferable when you go to the site and register it via the software when you download updates. The swoftware is on the cd included with the remote.
