I would like to try some banana plugs, cause I am tired of messing with speaker connections (I tend to change them a lot). Anybody used the ones in the link above?

Any recommendations on some that won't cost more than the amp (5 channels)?

Thanks.

I just gave a set away in a speaker wire karma. I prefer non locking nanners, but if you do use them open them up, and close them a couple times before using them.

They look fine but I'm with Ben, I don't like locking bananas. Now, locking RCA's...cool.

I also use bananas since my gear selection changes so much and I've never had any issues with AP style or flared body terminations.

I use the monoprice.com plugs. Get the single ones, not the duals. They are much better quality IMO (the duals are nasty ****, if you ask me).

    Yes: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040115&p_id=2943&seq=1&format=2
    No: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040115&p_id=2945&seq=1&format=2

I think some people recommend the solder type, and that seems to make sense to me (but I've only got two brain cells, and I've never tried those yet, so maybe you should just ignore these).

    Maybe: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040115&p_id=2801&seq=1&format=2

I have Monoprice singles and duals and they appear to be of similar quality. The only advantage to the singles is that they're more versatile, they'll work with a greater amount of amps and speakers. But the duals are safer if you forget to turn the power switch off while connecting cables.

I really like some of the AQ speaker wires, but I do not like there nanners. I have the silver nanners, and they bend easy, and do not return to their original shape. I was looking at the tube style posted above, and I see similar issues with them too. GlS makes good nanners cheap. You can get them on Ebay. I also really like PE's crimp on nanners.

My singles are heavier, thicker, and screw down tight. My duals are lighter, somewhat skimpy feeling, and never screw down all the way, so they don't always grasp the wire properly unless you double it over. I had to throw out about 10-20% of the duals! I got them all in late 2007 (to facilitate all the changes I've been trying recently), so maybe the design is different from those Face got (or maybe I just got unlucky).

Excellent customer service by the way, when I had to call about a problem, albeit something of a skeleton staff (you cannot have your cake and eat it, I suppose). YMMV, of course, as usual.

I've had the singles loosen up also. The only sure way to keep a positive connection is to solder them. One day I'll get around to soldering all of mine and putting shrink wrap over them. I've been moving my speakers around so much lately it's not worth it yet.

With those monoprice singles, do you have the option of putting the wire through the end or coming in from the side? I saw a pic of some b-plugs where the guy had something like a spade (not the split type) on the end of the speaker wire and the spade came in through a whole on the side of the plug. Thoughts about this? Thanks. I was gonna order the monoprice singles, but they appear not available right now. Oh, and instead of soldering, what about some adhesive?

I used Vampire compression bananas (nonlocking) and they are the same price as your GLS Audio locking bananas.

I agree, I don't like the BFA nanners that AQ makes. They are expensive for what you get. They look cheap and feel cheap. In the end they get the job done, I just prefer some other types out there. Technically they aren't nanners as they are hollow & tube like.

I don't care for the all metal banana's. Probably just parnoid, but it seems that if one backed out a little, they could easily short.

    I use these:

Use a good crimper, and the connection will never fail. Sure have gone up though. Last spring they were $16.95.

I have the monoprice solder type, and they are very easy to use. The installation guide is there for reference.

I've used the GLS ones you linked- They're a pain to tighten into the locked position. Never had any trouble w/ my AQ's, but I haven't switched those out much, so they're still tight.

That is almost as the same as monoprice, but you get it 1/3 the price from monoprice.

I hate to say it, but the Monster ones are really good- I got a set open box from best buy (wow, all that's missing is Bose for the unholy trifecta).

They aren't that bad. My bro bought some and they are solid and look nice. I'm not a fan of any of the crimp style versions other than the types with at least 2 set screws.
