My new ride

Picked up a 2008 Eclipse GT (V6) 6-speed manual last night. Took 3+ hours of haggling and to do the paper work. Got the car for $240 under invoice, and got enough on the MINI trade to nearly pay off that loan. All-in-all I drove off very happy. Got 0% interest though Mitsubishi as well due to my credit rating.

This Eclipse is fast and I can't even put it to the test yet, only 44 miles on the OD. Got the Sun and Sound package; a 9 speaker Rockford Fosgate rig with an in-dash 6 disc changer and a sun roof, never had one in a car before...it's very nice. The way this car is designed when behind the wheel it's like sitting in a cockpit of a jet, it's very cool. I sit low, the windows are small and up high and there's a lot of low forward windshield. It's like no other car I sat in.

Here's a couple driveway pics I took today.

A few mods are happening right off. First, last night I removed the "Eclipse" lettering that was all across the rear hatch, I also removed the front licence plate holder. Next up is to ditch the Goodyear tires (they suck) and put some BFG Traction Control TA's on her. Got these put on the MINI, amazing tires. Other then that, not much else for now.

Cool ride Ron. I'm a Mitsu fan myself, and have been giving the Galant Ralliart a long, hard look. My Montero is built like a brick sh!thouse, I still can't get over how well engineered it is.

I agree with you that those tires are nice when new, but I'm on my 3rd set right now. The problem is that the outer and inner edges are so tapered with the tread, that they tend to wear quicker than the rest of the tire. And no, that's not just from being under inflated (which mine are regularly checked and rotated). I just got my 3rd set put on today due to a mileage warranty through Costco, but if they go again I'm gonna give up on them.

Right now in UT, Costco is doing the $60 off a set of 4 Michelin tires (and select BFG's). When I lived in IL, they were $60 off ANY 4 tires so it's a regional thing but definitely something you should check out.

EDIT: Are you going to tint it?

Thanks Russ, I've done a lot of research and Mits gets very high marks, pretty much like Toyota and Honda. Also, many people I know that own'em are very happy.

The outer edges on my new tires look like crap already, only after 90 miles. I really, really hate Goodyear tires.

BFG makes nice tires. I was looking to replace my older geForces with the geForce R1 but I think I'll save the money for now and get Toyo Proxes instead. I doubt I'll take it to a track that many times before the tires are worn out again. ;)

That new eclipse looks a lot smaller than the previous gen. How does it handle compared to the Mini?

    Thanks bro.

This morning I had some new tires put on her, Falken Azenis 245/40Z/R18. An amazing difference in ride quality. I hate Goodyear tires so they needed to go ASAP.
