I've been experimenting with this DVD...

When connected via 5.1, I get no sound whatsoever on the aforementioned tracks. When connected via an optical cable, it works.

Which is weird because my HTPC should be able to decode DTS in multichannel mode.

Onkyo's own manual states the analog muti channel inputs are for DVD-Audio and SACD only. For Digital Dolby and DTS use the coaxial/optical/hdmi digital inputs.

Sure, it's just that the analog multi-channel inputs sound better (especially with DVD-Audio) so that's why I was using them.

Now I'm confused as if it is a HTPC issue or something with the Onkyo. Any ideas? I want to use the connections that sound better.

Dolby Digital and DTS wont work on the multi channel analog inputs period....so there really is no issue so to speak.

Hopefully my disc gets here soon from Sal so I can see if my Onkyo has the same issue you are seeing . Actually , when using the multi channel analog inputs it bypasses the Onkyo's DSP processor...relying on what its fed by your source ( Actually why you probably like it better...its cleaner with less processing ) .
Maybe your source is whats having the issue and why its not playing through the analog inputs...but when you hook it up digitally the Onkyo's DSP is now being used and it works correctly ? Your source just sends the raw data out of its digital output and now the Onkyo's DSP see's it and acts accordingly.

P.S. What I meant by wont work earlier is that when the analog inputs are used the DSP in the Onkyo is bypassed... If your source recognizes the format ..decodes it...and sends it out the analog outputs then of course it will work.

I Just tried Track #5 on the original DVD and a copy and they both work. They are both coming up on my onkyo as DTS.

How can I get one of these DVD's?

    Okay, thanks!

Looks like Windows XP Media Center cannot decode DTS but decodes Dolby Digital properly through the 5.1 outputs.
