On Monday, my lovely wife Maureen is having at least a partial and possibly a full knee replacement. Maureen has some chronic orthopedic problems, one of which is her left knee. She'll sign the release to do a full knee replacement if the surgeon determines that's what needs to be done. It's all weighing very heavily on our minds. She'll be recovering and rehabing that leg for quite a while.

Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
Carl

My buddy had a knee replacement, and it turned out great. He had a bad knee for 15 years, and he wished he had done it sooner. Prayers sent.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. Carl our thoughts and prayers are with Maureen and you!

The worst part of a knee replacement is the rehab. The first week is the hardest as the pain is pretty bad but they will keep her well medicated to the point where she won't even care about the pain.

Best of luck to your wife Maureen. Everything will turn out fine. I had a partial knee replacement 2yrs ago & I was driving in 8 days & back to work in 2wks. I jumped in head first with the rehab...you have to work thru the pain but it pays off big time. I literally surprised all the doctors & physical therapists on how fast I was up & running. Again best of luck...prayers coming your way.

Thoughts and prayer to you both...

As it has been said already...it is a fairly common procedure, and they have come a long way with knee and hip replacement....the hardest part is the rehab

Carl, my best friend had this done and he was a royal pain in the **** [ex-roomate] for about three months [during recovery] but he's been pain free for 16 years now and wishes he had it done sooner.

Best of wishes for a successful surgery and quick recovery for both you and your wife.

    Carl,

    Good luck to you bro.

TLW has been through this a time or two and just went through it with an elbow a few weeks before I left. Her mom just had a knee replacement in October.

Attitude is everything in this case. Get her up and moving ASAP, the more it moves, the better she will be. In Wendi's mom's case, they had her up on it the very next day.

Everything will be fine, bro. Keep good thoughts.

I think I'm starting to understand why Doro's application for "Hospital Chaplain" didn't making it past final review. :)

Actually, as usual, he speaks the truth, though.
The ex- father-in-law/s knees went bad from years of working on a concrete floor, and he FINALLY had both knees replaced.
He was diabetic, so he had some extra worries to think about, but he came through fine, and wishes he had done it years earlier.
Make sure they do the right one. . . or the one on the left. . . .if that is right:D

    That is also excellent advice.
Everything will be fine as long as they operate on the correct knee.

I have supreme confidence that the Big Guy Upstairs has this one under complete control, so I'll just take a moment here to mention something to the married guys, if I may:
Guys, Crizz's advice is also very sound for those of you who's wives aren't undergoing relatively minor surgery.
Sammiches coming a little slow lately, dust bunnies behind the entertainment center not being addressed as they should ? Well .... a little visit from a PT, as Cfrizz mentioned, might just be the answer to your problems.

    Good call, Cfrizz.

    But, Carl, just remember:
Maureen will be fine, the Big Guy's on the case, and everything will be okay.

Let her see that you care, but don't let her see that you worry.

    :)
