IIRC, the MK 4 Platinum came with the ECS-U (ECU-S?) outboard controller which offered a few tweaks you could do to the speakers as well as their proprietary Sonic Holigraphy circuit. I know the main changes from series II-IV were in the crossover area. The obvious and main change from the original to series II was changing the 2 30" ribbons to the single 60" one.

Where are the photos?

I have a pair of Platinum Mk. IV's. No question about it. Had them for 17 years. They are neither bi-ampable, nor did they come with that box thing, which I wouldn't have wanted anyway. But they are Platinum MK.IV.

The pic's confirm that they indeed are Platinum MKIV Amazing Loudspeakers.
You said that the speakers sound fine and that no work has been done to them over the years, do you know if the foam surrounds on the woofers are still in good shape?
In order to do this, you will need a #2 Phillips screwdriver. If you take the back grill off [I believe eight screws], this will allow you to take the front grill off for inspection of the woofer assemblies [I believe ten screws]. What you will be looking for is a curl on the outermost edges of the surrounds of each woofer, or any rot/cracking within the surround itself.
I ask because that will help to determine the condition of these bad boys. Many of them are just now hitting the rebuild stage.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

Hmmm. Interesting. I could have sworn that there was A MKIV Silver Edition.
OK, I just confirmed with an owner of a set that there is a Carver Silver Edition MKIV Loudspeaker out there. Last available date was in 1993. Single binding posts, 3 pots, available in BLK or Oak, FYI.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? That's the model I got for my friend Harold cause he was bugging the **** out of me to sell him mine. Cute LITTLE MK. IV's. The company delivered them down here to Jersey from NYC. Guys had to hump those things up a spiral staircase.

Are these sold yet?

Thanks for the compliments, in the next few weeks, as soon as we figure out their replacements, and the asking price, I will post these Platinum MKIVs to the for sale section of the forum.

I was thinking the same thing; rules don't apply for Amazing's in perfect condition or a set of SRT's.

Actually, their can't be a Mark IV silver...because there was never a Mark I, II or III in that series. The Silver does, however, look cosmetically identical to the Mark IV Platinum (albeit with one less woofer) and they were sold at the same time, so perhaps that is where the confusion lies.... -
Here's what bad surrounds look like:
