Hello, I bought myself a Polk Setup but I'm betting the room will affect the sound out of my speakers.
I have Rti8 Fronts and Cs3 Center. (Onkyo 605) When the budget allows I want surrounds but the space behind the couch doesn't seem to allow for Rti4's.
To the experts here, What is recommended of a room like this? (Plasma will be wall mounted) Christmas stuff around TV will be gone.
I feel the Rti8's won't benefit from this and the sound will be worse than when I auditioned them. are Floorstanders too big for this room?
I want to get the best sound out of the room
Thanks

Welcome, you are getting a great system. Get the FXi 3's or 5's. The 8's will be great in front.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

My room is very similar. I have it set up long way to stretch the staging a bit. You could try it longways (plasma facing stair, or plasma against stair) and have the surrounds wall mounted. The short end of my room has a window as well, so I had double cell shades made to fit all the windows in the room. They will let in some ambient light, but block all direct light. They look nice too. I kept the stand mount instead of wall mounting the plasma to make it work this way. I have a pic somewhere. If you can't make it work longways, get dipole/bipole switchable surrounds to go on the rear wall. . . you may need to create a null zone to offset the proximity to your seating area.-Ignorance is strength -

thank you for your input, I am actually looking at polk fxi surrounds but can't seem to find a good deal anywhere, let alone find them

Here is a pic of the front stage at the smaller end with the window. It was taken after the recent move, and during the day, so there is quite a bit of ambient light coming through the shade. When the plasma is on, there is no glare though as the double cell shades cut down all direct light. 1 surround on the fireplace mantle on the long side, the other is still awaiting a stand.-Ignorance is strength -

those are nice speakers. I am more of a Floorstander person but the woodgrain and color of those look awesome. very very nice. The stands must have run you a chunk of change by the way they look.
My setup is more complicated though. I got a free tilting and swiveling mount that moves all over the place with the tv.
so the cable mess is more obvious with this type of mount.
that's why I got one of those hdmi receivers so one cable runs to the tv.
after I got I'm like hmm, this thing needs speakers so my thinning wallet followed.
Now i'm puzzled as to how i'm going to hide the mess.
This Home theater stuff just gets more expensive..
Nice setup though.
