Speakers cutting out

I have a pair of Monitor series 2 speakers, M10. They have both started cutting out from time to time when I play a cd. They don't do it all the time, just occasionally. I've checked my wiring and don't see anything obvious. Any suggestions?

Are you positive it's the speakers? Not the amp/source?

Both speakers? At the same time?
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

sounds like it could be your receiver and not the speakers.. if both of them are doing it... how old is your receiver? sometimes they need to be serviced/cleaned on the inside after several years of use.

i agree it is most likley to be your amp/source it could be a internal fuse/thing on the x-over but this is unlikley and is a total guess as i am unfamilliar with the speakers :-)

Could be the reciever has clipping protection circuits or overheat protection. This will cause the signal to be shut off until the problem is resolved.
