NAd T762 set up help

I just got this thing in off A-gon. Looks in good shape and I have it hooked up, but I am not getting any audio output. This is my 4th HTR, so I think I have it set up correctly, but I must be missing something obvious. I am using it in 5.1. I have labeled and identified inputs, set speakers, etc. The speakers are connected, but there is no sound from either DVD or CD source.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Mike

P.S. I am running DVD thru optical digital, and cable is also through optical (2). CD is through analog input. No sound from any of it. Checked tape monitor. All speakers are set to on, the volumes are set high enough. The remote shows the volume increasing on the front display.

No sound from test tone. No sound from tuner, though it is receiving station and displaying text. Also, no sound from headphone jack. Now, I would have thought that this had its own amp section and output channel??

It is showing that it is receving DVD signal input.....hmmm.....guess, I'll crawl behind the unit again.

P.S. I did check the mute button!

Disconnect all speakers from the back and try the headphones again from a radio station.

If you have any amps at all, try to connect something from the pre-outs to an amplifier and see if that does anything for you. (if you dont have any amps, but have an AVR, hook the right and left pre-outs to the cd-input of your old avr and see if you get any sound that way.

    I'm on it. Thanks.

First...I got sound when I ran the preout to my other amp...then, an epiphany...

Someone must have been using the HTR as a preamp/pro and removed the jumpers between the preouts and main ins. When I looked at it before, I assumed it didn't use jumpers....but when I bridged the preout and main in the front channels....sound....so, now where the heck can I find jumpers? (and my jumpers from my Carver are pretty tinny looking things...are there better quality ones out there?)

Thanks a lot, McLoki.....two heads and all that....I really appreciate it....Mike

Call signal cable, blue jeans cable or our buddy Ben6227 and ask how much a 6" rca cable would run you. Get the correct number and you are in business....

    BTW - your welcome.. :)

Why not try NAD? They might send you out the appropriate jumpers for a reasonable cost. Just a thought.

Yeah, Nad might even send them out to you for free. I'd email and ask them first before you have jumpers custom made.

Not sure why they do their AVRs like that. I had one as well for a short bit and it seemed it had jumpers for the three front channels, but then none for the backs.

Did you try asking the seller also? He may just have forgotten about them, but maybe he/she still knows where they are.

I beg to differ McLoki, you are no idiot as far as I am concerned, but thank you for the compliment (I need/want/crave those!).

NAD is sending out jumpers. Didn't respond to email...so I called. $1.67 per jumper and 20 bucks shipping.....sheees. I mentioned in another post that I found some Cardas jumpers for $80....and that might have been a piece.....

    - $1.67 per jumper ... sounds more than reasonable.
    - $20 shipping ... sounds like a ripoff, unless they're made of lead.

Oh well, it's probably the best solution. I just don't see why they feel that they need to charge that much shipping. I suppose it's a shipping and handling fee combined, unless it's because they ship from Canada or something.
