Im going to be buy a full set of either the LSi 15 and all LSi speakers to create a 7.1 setup. Or the RTia9 and all 2008 rti speakers for 7.1.

I need to know which would be better for me. Price is not a big concern. My friend can get me 50% off on any Polk speaker. They will be going into a basement that is 12 x 25 with 7.5 ceilings. My main use will be for Home Theatre and music would be my secondary use. I want something that has a nice open detailed and POWERFUL sound. I've not heard to much about the new 2008 rti. So, bottom line. LSi vs. Rti 2008. Money is not an issue. Thanks guys.

If your budget will let you power them adequately I would go with the LSi's. With the RTi's you could do OK with a good quality AVR. With the LSi's you're most likely going to need a good AVR with external amplification, or a pre/pro + amplifier set up. I use a B&K AVR with my LSi's and it powers them fine, but my room is not nearly as big as yours.

I have all LSi speakers in my 5 channel HT. Four LSi15s, LSiC, and a PSW1000. Running it off an AVR I did not have any issues, and loved the sound for both music and movies. I recently upgraded to an external amp, and that bought out even more detail in the movies and music.

However, as much as I love the LSi speakers if money was not an object for me I think I would get 4 Theil 3.7 speakers and the MCS1 for the center.

My advice: Take some familiar listening material (i.e. music) to the store and listen to both speakers. That might help you narrow down your choices.

(Counter argument is that the speakers may sound differently in your basement and with better amplification. However, the tone of the speaker will not change, and thats precisely the reason you should listen to both. Its like selecting between Paiste and Zildjian cymbals. They just have different qualities.)
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

I second doing an Audition, the Rtia series is an awesome looking speaker but to some (well to me) is a distinct speaker with characteristics that may not suit you

I can't audition the LSi. Futureshop only carries the RTi line of Polk speakers. Does anyone what retailers in the GTA carry Polk LSi?

Actually Paiste cymbals are usually brighter and crash more . Zildjan cymbals are more for Jazz. They splash out at yeah and sound warmer. I perfer K series . There rides are stupid good.

Get both! With 50 percent hookup, its like buying the lsi15's and getting the a9's for free with purchase! vice versa. At that point you could decide which one will be for ht or music!
