As some of you might have noticed I am selling most of my gear for financial reasons. But to hold me over untill I get on my feet I am looking for a receiver that can handle both hd audio and video. It seems everywhere I look they can only handle the video side of HDMI. Is there such a thing as a cheap receiver that does both hd audio and video?? The only thing I have found that might be acceptable is the harmon kardon 247. I think it mentions it can pick the audio up and send it out but it can't decode it. Does any of this make sense??? Please help me. I am not looking to spend over $350.00 shipped. Is this possible??

Wow that is right in my price range. I love the looks also. I noticed it doesn't do trueHD and DTS master Audio. Is it possible to get a receiver to do that in a 350.00-400.00 price range? Also has anybody had any experience with the harmon kardon 247? Does it do the same thing the yamaha does? Has anybody had any experience with yamha rxv661? I know its a lot of questions but if anybody can help me with this I would appreciate it. I have not done any research on receivers for a long time. When I went to seperates I vowed never to go back. But..... Things have changed and I need something to get me by. I plan on buying something pretty soon and don't want to make a mistake.

The Onkyo 605 is the cheapest AVR that I know of that will decode the new surround formats. I think it runs around $500, but you can probably find one cheaper if you look around.

Thats the one I'm gonna buy. It seems like the best out of the three so far. It looks like with enough patience one could be had for $350.00 on ebay.:D

Has anybody had experience with onkyo and polk? Do the two pair well together?

Alot of guys over at AVS use the 605, especially in the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray section, you could probably find alot of info over there.
