AS promised, some build pictures. It's going slow, but I want everything to look great, so it's just gonna take time.
Front of box...to give you an idea how big it is, that's a yardstick laying in front of it.

Side View...it's stepped to fit behind the seat of my Crew Cab GMC Sierra and I added a small trim panel to fit flush to the window.

Here's a front shot with the sub holes layed out. I am gonna cut them tomorrow.

And here's my head unit, Alpine 9887. I used a regular double DIN kit and then laser cut a piece of ABS to do an ISO DIN mount.

I already have the amp rack started, but I didn't take any pics of that yet. I am hoping to get that done tomorrow.
Here's the bracket I made for my fuse holders one is for 1/0 gauge and one is for 2 gauge.

List of my equipment at this point:
Alpine 9887 Head Unit
Digital Designs S4 amp
Digital Designs M3 amp
(6) Polk Audio MM 8's
DLS UR6S mid
Dynaudio MDT100 tweeter
Iraggi 240 amp alternator 160amp at idle.
I'll may be changing the front stage, not sure yet though.

Got some more work done today. I routed the flushed ring and holes for the subs:

You can see on one of the holes I messed up with my circle jig and made a random ring way outside of where the subs mount, not a problem that a little body filler didn't fix...lol.
Here are some pictures of my battery/fusing. I am running a 1/0 and a 2 gauge wire. I also upgraded the grounds with 1/0 and added a ground to the frame. I am going to have a 1/0 guage charging wire as soon as I get a chance to install my alternator.

Here are just some random wiring shots. Everything is ran in TechFlex. I am using JL Audio RCA's and Stinger 16 gauge speaker wire. I'm taking a little different route than usual for the front stage wiring. I am using a two conductor wire for the tweeter (normal part) and a two conductor wire for each pole of the mid, one pair tied together for positive and one pair tied togehter for negative. I'm not sure if that explains what I am doing...lol.

You stole my router, and circle jig! J/K I have the same setup as you. Building speakers is a pain, but the satisfaction of doing it yourself is worth it in the end. I bet 6 8's are going to hit nice, and hard.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks
Ben -

Fantastic work so far. What are you covering it in?
-CodyMusic is like candy, you have to get rid of the rappers to enjoy it -
I'll answer all the questions in one reply..hehe
-Subs are sharing an airspace and being run off a mono amp.
-I am covering the enclosure in vinyl that closely matches the current interior color. Later I will add suede highlights to it...not sure what color suede yet.
Thanks for all the comments. I am hoping to get SOMETHING done tomorrow, but I can't make any promises. Today I also made some trim pieces that sit under each end of that box so that there isn't just a big square box sitting in the back. I will cover those trim pieces in carpet to match the floor. -

I hope the 8's are gonna do what I want them to! I figured six would be pretty clean and loud. I'm just worried about low end, but that's because I never have personally owned 8's. -
Nice work . What is the make on that circle jig ? I've not seen that one before .

Jasper circle jig, you can get it off of www.partsexpress.com

Nice work. I love the JL Audio RCA cables. They are now my cable of choice. The connections at the battery and fuse holders are wonderful. I love heat shrink. Let us know how it sounds. I have two 8" drivers each in a 1/2 cubic foot ported enclosure tuned to 30hz with 400 watts a piece. I am very happy with these. Crossover is at
50hz with SR6501's coming in at that point. -

Thanks! I really have taken my time with this install. I'm trying to make it very, very secure and as close to IASCA standards as possible without making myself nuts...lol. I like the JL RCA's also, they are ruggedly built and the plug has a very positive fit. -

I am working on some trim panels today and I got the JL ground lug installed and the ground wires are terminated at the ground terminal side. Tomorrow I plan to run a 1/0 guage from the ground lug to the frame and I am hoping to get the box in and subs mounted also as well as maybe upholstering the amp rack and starting on the amp rack cover. I plan to do some engraved plexi and maybe start the accents for the larger plain area at the top of the box. -

That's all for today. I still have to build the shroud for the amp rack and I am also going to make some filler panels for the area between the seat supports and the seat itself. I want it to look as close to factory as possible. I'm still waiting for my door speakers to get here, so that won't be done anytime soon, probably next weekend. I also have to copy the factory a-pillars to put the tweeters in them. -
Congrats, man. That looks awesome. It blends in with the stock interior very nicely imo. How does it sound?

im not expert and i dont pretend to be... and i really havent worked with that many interconnects besides home theater stuff.... but i swear to god when i saw these and felt how freaking solid the connector itself was i almost had to change my pants. they just feel SOLID. as far as tightness ive found that in home theater, have a really nice fitting jack cant be a bad thing unless like how these were when i first got them and had to take them out of my old civic when i crashed it, i pulled the whole freaking output jack out of the headunit, and i have to use needle noes to get them off the amp now. they really look classy too2013 Toyota Prius
