Well this is kind of sad.... A year and a bit on and the problem is still there...

I recently had another sub go (same thing again) and as they have always done, directed replaced it for me with a "new revision".

However this morning while driving to work, I noticed that all too common lack of sub-bass. Here we go again,
4 weeks without lower frequencies again??
bite the bullet and get something else??
Get a local repairer to fix them using proper techniques??

The speakers themself sounds amazing, there is no question there, but such an avoidable problem like this, happening time and time again, has really put me off.

for the record, I have used 3 differet enclosure designs and beleive this will be my 5th failure :(

Man that sucks after my 4th pair going out 6 subs total I went with another brand they dont sound as good as the SR's but they work and thats all that matters to me. I own 6 SR subs with broken lead wires they make great paper weights.

They retail at 999.00 AUD (758.581 USD) over here too...

Has anyone had any luck with getting them 'modified' by a speaker builder/repairer?

Sucks to see this thread, but makes me feel better about my problem... I have two DVC Sr124's and one stopped hitting. Thought it was blown at first but took it out to see that the wire had snapped , same as the problem all of you are talking about. I know there isn't even stock to replace the subs with now, and had a audio shop solder the wire back on and it started working again. Still sucks to know it will probably come apart again and there's nothing I can do about it. Powering each sub with a c500.1 .

leads broke again on one subwoofer, while the other is still going fine... Took it into polk audio DEI headquarters to fix it and they told me the subwoofer was unrepairable. Now there's no backstock either which is unfortunate for me. This sucks

This happened to me as well. It stinks because that was simply the best sub I have ever heard and I never abused it, I wanted it to last as long as possible. I am not as into car audio as I used to be (2 channel home audio is taking over) so I won't spend that kind of money again on a car sub. I just got a Boston G3 12 SVC sub yesterday and it sounds great so far, especially for the money.

If I were to spend that kind of money on a sub I would go with the JL W6 any day of the week. Sorry to here about your trouble.
