i have the polkaudio rti a7 about a few days now.they looks greay in a cerry finish.my use is 2 ch. music only. they dont open up yet and the sound not so great even with my NAD c372 amp.(monster cable z1 reference)i also have the polk rti6 and the lsi9.
i realy hope that the sound of my new rti a7 will change very soon. i read alot about the break in theory(soory about my bad english:))and i now that its a true thing. a new speaker must work at list 100 hrs to break in.even with a strong amp.sooooooooo......i will give them the chans to break-in and to improve and prove themself.:D

hi danger boy:)my english is not so very good so forgive me on that.my nad 372 is on a FLAT position and i find this position pretty good. i use a monster cable z1 referene(very good) and 300$ RCA,monster cable m1000i from the c372 to the nad c542 nad cd player, and monster m300 to the nad 445 DAB tuner. i think that my gear is pretty good.
the bass of the rti a7 is deep and tight.but since the speakres only 4 days old i expect them to show improvment in a next few weeks. the rti a7 looks very impresive and in cerry finish it is just great speaker.

the rti a5 is a pretty good speaker. the rti a9 enjoy the benefit of 3 7" woofers. i have the rti a7 a few days now.try them and solve all your dilemas.:o

My RTiA7's are about 4 months old now and they sound fantastic. Room placement is very important with these speakers. Try not to have them backed up to a wall or too close to a side wall. I have mine toed-in a bit. When I use them in two channel mode the bass is so deep and full no subwoofer is required. Beautiful mid range and perfect highs with my Hafler amp and Carver pre-amp.

Something in your setup must not be right. Every review or comment I've heard about these speakers (and my own experience) is extremely positive. Your posts are somewhat confusing too. I understand your english is not perfect but on one hand you say: "the bass of the rti a7 is deep and tight.but since the speakres only 4 days old i expect them to show improvment in a next few weeks" and then talk about how bad they sound. I can only speak for myself but I personally like deep and tight bass. What is it about the sound you don't like? Please be specific.

    Hi Meir
Have you tried different speaker placement? Maybe bring them out into the room a little more? The last 3 sets of tower speakers I have had all sounded best in almost the same location--about 11" off the wall from the rear of the cabinet, with 1/2" of toe-in, about 8ft apart. Can you describe what it is that you do not like? You have some nice equipment, I'm a little confused as to why you feel they don't sound right.

Some speakers take longer than others for break-in. Usually midranges and tweeters break-in soonest (1-2 weeks), woofers taking longer, sometimes even months to loosen up. After break-in, you may have to re-adjust your placement.

    Meirco,
Welcome to the club. Most of us have a strange sence of humor here so take comments like Laz's with a light heart. That being said,if you can give us more info on how you have the speakers set up,placement, etc,we can better help you. With the limited info you have given us,something in your set up menu may need to be tweeked. Also, the monster Z1 cables are not exactly the best match in my opinion. Can't believe what you paid for your speakers.I might have been tempted to keep the LSI 9's and add a sub woofer to it to round out the bottom end.

I've had the RTiA3 in my secondary rig for about 10 days now. Initial impressions (by no means final), tweeter sounds a bit smoother, mids a bit more natural, bass is a bit sloppy. I think Dorokusai is right that some Black Hole treatment would improve things. Interestingly, when giving the cabinet the knuckle wrap test, it sounds almost plastic. May be due to the wood laminating process, as unlike the LSi's the speaker is fairly lightweight.
We'll see what happens once I plunk it into the my main rig with better room acoustics, etc.

The larger models sound better, more solid, in regards to the cabinet construction. I was pretty taken back by that as well.

Here's an excerpt of the review I'm working on for the A5's,
If you like the Polk sound, the A5’s faithfully reproduce the sound I grown accustom to over the years. Clear distinct highs, faithful midrange, and surprising good bass from the most diminutive of the speaker line. These speakers aren’t bottom dwellers by any means. But they dig deep enough to provide respectable 2 channel listening pleasure.

    I agree wholeheartedly!

This is why there is still war in our modern world. Everybody needs to step back take a deep breath and relax. The post that started it although insensitive and inappropriate was not meant to be hurtful. The reaction and the things said after that do appear to be hurtful on both sides. It only excalates from here to total hatred and for what? Everyone ask themselves if this is worth it.

Wow! I started this thread & whoa, nellie, has it taken an amazing turn!

Walk away, my Polk brethren! Walk away! Maybe just stick w/audio related discussions & don't be so quick to fly off the proverbial handle.

Now back to the RTi A7...
