100 Greatest Songs of the 90's

Was watching this on VH1. A lot of poor choices and some really good ones though it was definitely based on the popular songs and not the best. Some artists pop hits were included whereas their magnificent songs (that were still fairly large) were not. One example is Third Eye Blind was on the list with Semicharmed Life but not How's it Gonna Be.

I'm also very upset the Blind Melon was not in the list with No Rain (or any song for that matter).

Anyone else watch this?

They made music in the 90's ? When did that happen? Someone should of sent me a memo! I think I missed a whole decade then, damned ADD!

As the roadie said to the judge in the Jerry Garcia trial .... "your honor I would answer the question if I could, but you have to understand that there's about 5 years in there that I really can't remember what happened"

You didn't miss anything. I don't think you could call it music in the 90's; it was more like highly processed noise with karoke singers.

I was watching it too. It was good at times, and very lame at others. There were some good artist in there, and plenty of bad ones. For the 90's I will have to admit that it was a pretty lame time period for music. Worth watching. Not worth setting time aside for though. I am not mad, and want the hour, and a half back I spent there.

I saw 100 - 21. Maybe I'll catch the top 20 later (It's not like they won't show it a 1,000 times over the next few months). It's about the only thing that I've seen on VH1 over the last couple of years of passing over the channel as I'm clicking up and down on the remote that even comes close to resembling music.

I find it very interesting at least because most of it is "my music" - the music I grew up with and liked and some of the stuff I still enjoy. The #1 did deserve though the bottom 10 were pretty much garbage and most of the influential artists were thrown way back into the 30s and up.

Of course, what should I expect with all the people my age voting - of course they want to see their teen idols on top.

Yeah any list purporting to be the top hits of the 90s that has the Backstreet Boys at #3 and no Pearl Jam until number 11, no Soundgarden until 25, no Smashing Pumpkins at ALL.... well let's just say it's not valid.

Also, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" ... is not a good song. Sure it introduced the world to Nirvana and grunge, but... it's not a good song. At all.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

The 90's was one of the worse times for music. Not many good bands at all, Alice N Chains where great but thats about it.

    1. Pearl Jam
    2. Alice in Chains
    3. Smashing Pumpkins -Siamese Dream was excellent
    4. Collective Soul -excellent lyrics

What the f*** are they thinking putting Kris Kross, Ricardo, and Vanilla Ice on that list?

Nirvana? They were good and like I said, I could see Smells Like Teen Spirit being up there because that song did influence the music industry when it came out. However, to call Nirvana our generation's Beetles is stretching it big time!

As dumb as that list was, The one they did for the top 100 hard rock bands was way DUMBER. Here are some of the bands they left off: Nazareth, B.T.O., Y&T, Monster Magnet, Sprung Monkey, and whole bunch of others.
You know who was on there? 'Yes'????and some friggin rap crap!!!
That's when I realized, VH1 is slightly RETAHDED!
