I misspoke. My beef with Elvis Costello has nothing really to do with his talent, but with what he said a long time ago.
As I remember the story, he called Ray Charles "an ignorant, blind ****"-at which point Grace Slick punched him clean off his bar stool:eek::D:D

Needless to say, I never forgive someone when they trash an AMERICAN legend

It was Bonnie Bramlett who punched Costello, not Grace Slick

Funny, I was just thinking about Doris Day. She used to live not far from us in Mill Valley, CA back in the 60s. I loved her performance in the musical/comedy, Calamity Jane.

Keiko, funny you mentioned Calamity Jane. It reminded me of this recent interview of Doris Day, conducted by some guy named Paul McCartney (anyone heard of him? :D )....

    Damn kids..

If they consider her to be "old people's music", then what do they consider the big band sounds from the 40's? Ancient history? Stone age music?

95% of the music I listen to now, and grew up on is/was oldies. stuff from the late 50's through early 70's. The music now adays just sucks. Can't stand it. Only thing I listen t in the car is am talk radio. I know I'm the minority, but I'm fine with listening to good music, rather than whats "good" this week.

I don't find her music boring, but it's difficult to sit through an entire CD of hers, a couple in a row is nice tho, that said, she has a really flat face. Like she was hit with a board as a kid

BINGO...and throw Norah Jones in there with her. I don't own any music from either of these performers and don't really care to. If they were to change their style, I might change my mind...but EVERYTHING I've heard from these two bores me to death.

    SHACK, for the takedown.

Elvis Costello is an extemely tallented musician and songwriter (singing is average) and it every bit as, if not more tallented (though not as good looking) than his wife.

Totally agree. Was not a fan until recently, but I've come to appreciate his songwriting and the skilled musicians he surrounds himself with.

Those who aren't fans listen to "Allison", "Watching the Detectives" (great reggae song), What's So Funny ('bout Peace, Love and Understanding), . . .

Yes alot of the music today does suck.

The heck with others opinions. Listen to what moves you in private and be selective when other heavy critics are around.

    It' easy.:wink::biggrin:
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

If you don't like Diana Krall you dont have a good sound system. I just recently got introduced to her music which sounds amazing w/ my SDA 1C's and tube amp.

However, I have never seen her before today. I think I am in love!!!

What a ridiculous statement. Even if they were the best sounding recordings ever made, what's the point if you don't like the music?
