HI all,
I bought some surplus 5 1/4 woofers and I'm looking for some basic specs to design a box for a two way, with the tweeters situated externally on top. I looked at the R-10 dimensions, but there ported. I would rather build a sealed box. I could use either the recommended Polk volume (sealed) or Vas, Fs, Qts. and I can get calculate the rest. The frequency range would be a bonus.
TIA

I dont know the specs, but even if you got the polk specs for the cabinet, might be a moot point if your using different tweets

if Polk was willing to get you the thiel small parameters, your still going to have to design a crossover right?

    Hey ohskigod,
Most tweeters don't figure in the box design expect for the space they take up in side the box. You can not, or I should say, should not design your crossover until you know at what frequencies the bass driver will distort. A very simplistic description. If your interested - lalena.com/audio/ or parts express.com can fulfill
your interests. Most driver manufacturers list these specs. Problem here is Polk sells speakers not drivers individually. But they did dump blemished drivers to resellers without a listing of the specs. Therefore I would hope they would list them in support or here. With that knowledge I can design a box, pick a tweeter that will go low enough for the woofer, make a crossover. Without expensive testing equiptment, one has to rely on ones ears and a lot of experimentation to get close to something acceptable. Much easier with specs provided.
What I build, since I first posted, was a box of .21 cubic feet. The tweeters I like to use in a two way design generally go down to 2K. The Polk speaker does not extend well enough past 2K, if at all to blend with my tweeter. When I get around to a three way or a small sub for computer system I will revisit using the Bose drivers. But again its still trial and error, the specs would dictate what I can best create with these. From what I heard these little bass drivers have lots of potential. No wonder Polk uses them.
