Thanks to Carlos (criverajr), I ditched my H/K 525 AVR for an Outlaw 950 and Emotiva LPA-1.
Um, wow.
I now see how you guys get so caught up in your upgrades.
I've been around here for quite a few years now, but never really made the leap into the full-fledged audiophile psychosis. But now that I've heard my Polks really sing.... I fear I may be lost
I just listened to a couple of my favorite albums with a big ****-eatin' grin on my face. Now I'm gonna throw in a DVD and see how that goes. But I just could not be happier right now.

If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

welcome to the dark side! 'Njoy!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Good for you.
I swear there should be some sort of testimonial thread for when people switch to seperates. It would be full of responses just like this one. It would be a good place to send people who are thinking about a switch to seperates but just aren't convinced yet.
I know when I made my switch to seperates it pretty much made me addicted for life. Theres no turning back for me now.:D -
Are you going to take any time to compare the Outlaw pre/pro performance with the Emotiva amp compared to the 525 paired with the same amp?
I considered it, but it just takes too damn long to hook everything up, and it's not very accessible for me to get at everything in my setup. Took me almost all day just to set this up....If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
I'm hoping my reaction will be the same. I've had my RT5000 speakers for YEARS and tried to power them with dinky receivers. I always knew something was wrong, but didn't really understand why a $800 receiver wouldn't be good enough to power them. I guess I thought something was wrong with the speakers.
Joined this forum and within a month I've developed upgraditus...lol.

Oh, and Kex, you better give a review of your system once you get it. I'll be at my parents house for Christmas for a week wondering what mine sounds like. You are my only hope for surviving the that week!Emotiva LMC pre/pro

Congrats bobman. The really cool thing is now you can upgrade one piece, mix and match etc. And yeah, seperates normally sound much better.Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want...

Atta guy Bob, now you know what the speakers can really do.

It's amazing how an ok amp and pre combo can be better than good receiver. Last year I had all my HT speakers on seperate amps running through my Marantz pre/pro, and it was worlds apart from my Yamaha receiver, no matter how powerful and expensive it was. Seperates is the way to go. (Although I might have to go to a 5 channel amp for HT for convience sake.)
