Need center for Polk Rt2000p's
What would be a good match? I'm breaking these bad boys out again and need a center channel to match them.
I forgot to mention I am limited by height as the center can only be about 5.75 inches tall MAX.

Wecolme to the forum!
I think a cs400 would probably be your best choice. One can usually be had on ebay for around 125.00 to 200.00
EDIT: I just noticed your edit. I don't know the exact height on the cs400 but I am looking at mine right now and it is definatly taller the six inches. probably more like eight inches. Your height problem is going to play a pretty big factor on you being able to get the center channel you need. -
Thanks for the quick reply!
Yeah, I'm restricted by my new TV stand. I did not realize how little space there is in between the glass shelves (not adjustable). I have a 56 inch Samsung DLP, so mounting a center on top of it is a no go.
My only other option is to mount it to the wall behind and above the TV? -
I wouldn't know the best route to go in this situation. I would think it would be better to get the right center channel and mount it to the wall and angle it down towards the listening area. Instead of getting one to small that wouldn't pair very well with your rt2000's The cs400 is a huge center channel so if it was mounted to the wall you would want to make sure it is done right. You wouldn't want that huge thing falling off the wall during a movie.
Someone should chime in shortley to help you out in this situation. Good luck.:) -
I used a CS245
Kinda small, but worked well
The 400 may be a better (larger) match

I have a CS245i, a CS300 and a CS400. The 400 is definitely what you should be getting for those bad boys IMHO. The 300 will also do a decent job, but really not as good. I think the 245, although smaller than the 300, may be a better choice (or it may just hold sentimental value for me as my first Polk Audio center, and it paired so well with my excellent little MiniMonitors). If this were me, I would really be trying to find a way to fit the CS400 nice and tidy somewhere above or below the screen.Alea jacta est!

Guys thanks again for the replies!
Well, I have seen some centers mounted on DLP's in the forums like the below:

Are there some brackets / Kits I could buy to mount my potential center on the TV? This would be more desireable then a wall mount in my opinion.
Tks -
Ok so I answered my own question!
I'm looking at getting this center channel shelf:
http://www.amazon.com/OmniMount-CCH1B-Center-Channel-Speaker/dp/B00067AIEU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1198089104&sr=1-1
My buddy has a Polk CS275 he'll just give me. Any opinions on this center channel?
I also have 2 Polk LS f/x rears I'll be setting up.
So I currently have as a setup:
56" Samsung 1080p DLP
Onkyo 5.1 Receiver - Will update model #
Polk RT 2000p Fronts
Polk CS275 Center
Polk LS f/x Bipole / Dipole Surrounds
Xbox 360 w/ HDMI
Tv Stand: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7293243&type=product&id=1118841019447
I still need an upconvert or HD-DVD / Blu Ray DVD player.....
I'll take pics when I get this all setup. Man I'm stoked!:D
So again, any opinions on the center? Should I upgrade? -

In my opinion yes. You should upgrade your center. You've got some great speakers all around and the last one I would want to skimp on is the center(IMHO). But free is free. Get things setup and play with it a little bit and you might find that center to be all that you need. In the end its what sounds good to YOU. After you get everything thing setup and IF you decide you need a better center then go find one. Have fun and good luck.
Oh and the center being mounted on the TV sounds great. I knew I had seen it done before but was just to lazy to go and find a link for you. -
Not much information available on the 275, http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/cs275/, but as nikolas812 suggests, there's nothing wrong with free! Another possibility, that may even be better, is a phantom center (set the center channel to "none"), so you could compare with and without to see which you prefer. This can work very well if nobody is sitting too close to either front speaker.Alea jacta est!
