Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

She got third degree burns on 6% of her body from that coffee, and initially sought only $20k to cover the costs of the eight days in a hospital getting treatment and skin grafts.

Exactly .. in this case it costs McDonalds millions of dollars.

Hard to believe a restaurant can be so stupid as to serve beverages at a drive through that are so hot they melt the skin off someone who might spill it.

Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries BY A GOVERNMENT, which we might expect in a country WITHOUT GOVERNMENT, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer.
    Thomas Paine. January 10, 1776,
