what about using this unit to power other speakers? I keep reading the speakers are junk but does it have much power to get another pair of small speaks to run off of this?

there is another thread where someone is having great luck with using the integrated to power some rta12's (bottomfeeder, I think).

Even if you throw the speakers out, you get an above average dock with a decent remote and a fairly decent integrated amp with headphone out. Many members would spend more than $100 on any of those (dock, integrated, headphone amp).

Yeah, I've been running my RTA12C's from it & it sounds really good. Was intending to compare the sound w/my NAD C320Bee, but didn't have the time. Will post when I do it - next week.

This thing is really cool and a no-brainer for these prices. It's worth the price just for it's coolness factor. I really don't think the speakers sound that bad although we're just using it for ambience. I don't really think it's intended for rocking the house or critical listening. That's what our main systems are for :D
But in the wife's sunroom at moderate volume it sounds really nice playing the Stylistic's ....
    betcha by golly, wow
you're the one that I've been waiting for

If Doggie doesn't have any, check ebay. Just look for HCT HMS 100 and you'll probably find some. I've seen them go for as low as $80 - $100 + shipping on ebay, but buyer beware if you get something there.

I'm only using the dock and remote right now. Haven't even unpacked the integrated amp and speakers. Seems like a lot of bang for your buck for $150 - $200 shipped. You can use the dock with your main system and the integrated elsewhere on some efficient speakers.

I got lucky today! I got mine for $39.00 (thirty-nine bucks) on a red tag sale at a military store at a base in California. At first I thought it was a mistake in the price tag. I had it checked by the store clerk on the computer. It is indeed $39.00.

That's a ridiculous price. The box and packaging are almost worth that much. These things are a bargain at $200 as far as I'm concerned, which is about what I paid......$39 freakin' bucks? That's ridiculous.
However, when you think about this **** made in China or Korea or wherever. I just got a pair of glasses online for $18.95 for crying out loud, shipped to my door and I mean nice glasses. I read some where that they can make the lenses in China for like 50 cents each. And even at CostCo they charge $130. The optometrist in Fred Meyers where I had my exam wanted over $200 just for the lenses. The markup on this stuff is crazy. My Mom was recently quoted $1600 for faux wood mini blinds. I got them online for less than $500 shipped and they're made in the U.S. And we got them in a third of the time she was quoted from the local shop. The middlemen are making a killing.

you should've bought every unit they had at that price and sold the rest on eBay.

And to think, Fatman was putting their branding on these things and selling them for $695 the past couple of years. Man, can't believe what kind of market they had on them.

I got mine from doggie for $200 shipped. For everything you get, it's a great deal. The dock / remote alone is worth at least a hundo for anyone with an ipod. The dock charges it, send sound and video to your other components, and the remote is full function, which is rare with iPod accessories.

I think I might just put the integrated tube amp on CL for $200 to recoup my money. For crafty buyers looking for a CL deal, I'll throw in the "piano gloss" crap speakers :) Maybe need to get some Fatman stickers to up the sex appeal.

One guy I know at McGuire got the first display unit for 60 something dollars. Everybody else paid full price, (including ME for the last display model).

Anyone use this unit for semi-critical Headphone listening? I'm not into the engineering aspects of this hobby. . . is it tube output to the headphone? I would guess most comparable tube headphone amps would run $200 themselves, so I may just keep the integrated amp for that purpose. My MF A308 integrated lacks a headphone output, but that's all it lacks :).

There seemed to be a lot of hype around this product for a short while, then it died out.

I have the integrated running a pair of very efficient speakers, and it sounds DAMN nice. I heard the same amp driving a pair of smaller R series bookshelfs and it sounded like ****, but with a pair of efficent speakers (mine are 95db), it has a great sound to it.

If anyone knows what kind of tubes it uses or where I can get replacement tubes please let me know.

I've got one. I've barely used it and might be willing to sell it.

If you're still interested, lemme know & I'll decide. Everything's perfect and mine came w/the piano black speakers.
