I recently purchased a set of polk speakers from crutchfeild and received a free PSW10. Hooked everything up and listend to beautiful music for about 3 weeks. Then today I was listening to Blues traveler, low level volume but loud enough I thought the bass mix was a little high, so I went over to turn the sub down. AS I walked across my carpeted floor and reached the sub I went to turn the volume knob and crossover know but accidently touched the RCA cables connected. I got a static electric shock. The sub buzzed/hummed for about 5 seconds low level and shut down. I freaked. I unpluged it, let it sit tried to turn it back on nothing. Tried another outlet, again nothing. I called crutchfeild and they are sending me a new sub. But what gives. Are these speakers that sensitive to static electricity. If that the case I am not sure if I want them. Everytime I go to adjust volume I will be afraid its going to blow. Shouldn't there be some kind of safety feature that prevents this from happening, auto reset, fuse something .
