Best Speaker I've heard so far

I'm liking what I hear from the Dyn/B&K combo more, especially as things break in and since I've added some signal power cables. I've got an Equitech balanced power unit and some other things that I'm going to add to this system that I think may open things up a bit. I'm also going to check with Gary Dodd and ask him if he'll tweak and upgrade my ELP so that I might get closer to the sound of those ASLs. Also a new source or DAC will be in my near future. I'm looking at the MF DAC like the one you have.
I know what you mean by texture, I'm just not getting the focus and soundstage/imaging that I would expect. The little transients and details are all there and done quite well though. I have the Dyns about 15" from the back wall, and several feet from the side walls. This is in a relatively small room though, with furniture and concrete floors. I've added some rugs and I'm working with placement and various other things to tweak the Dyns. The room will be my main limitation though. If you check my system showcase you'll see what I mean. Those are older pics with the Dyns closer to the walls though and I've since added the Dynaudio Stand 4.
Yes the ASLs don't have what it takes for the Dyns, and to be honest when I reflect on all of my past experiences the ASLs and VR-1 combo is a bit rich and forward. I mean, it was a cool experience to hear things so well and so clearly, right up front. Almost like the music was just playing in my head. But it lacks bass and some realism. Not quite "authentic". I had gotten used to it, so when I heard the neutral to warmish Dyn/B&K combo, I felt as though it was missing something.
As of right now my Rotel/LSi9 combo is probably the best sounding rig I have right now overall, as it has charactaristics of both of these systems combined. It's the gear behind the speakers I think that is making such a difference. I can't say I like the VR-1 over the Dyns yet. I'm just posting my experiences and trying to get a grasp on what brought you to where you are today. It's going to take a lot more time and experimenting before I make any big decisions.
I am kicking back and enjoying! All throughout this I've got lots of new music that I'm enjoying, and frankly it's exciting to have such drastically different bits of gear and to be able to swap and experiment. It's part of the fun of the hobby. I see this as a challenge now, to find the best of both worlds and get the best out of these Dyns.
Thanks for the input. You did a killer job on the ASLs. There is something special about them. -
I was very impressed by the Sonus Faber Cremona driven by Krell TAS gear, but would love to hear some Dyn's.

My MF DAC might be for sale in the near future. I'm waiting for Matt at sacdmods.com to send my a modded Sony ES player. If I like how redbook plays I will put up the MF for sale.
I get it now. It's funny how with some time you get used to a sound, and use it as reference. It might not be the best sound, but is what you're used to and like. I think that's one of the things that slowly made me avoid having too much gear and swap things around. It is fun, but you never make up your mind._________________________________________________

Dibs on the DAC!
This is the first time I've had so much gear at once and had the chance to experiment like this at home, so I'm lovin' it so far. Once I find the right synergy I'm sure I'll settle down a little. Or, maybe I'll end up like Russman with a house full of gear. Who knows.
Are you using silver or copper cabels Ricardo? -
Cables don't make a difference :eek::rolleyes:
Copper. I am using MIT Shotgun S3 everywhere. Just breaking in, and I will say that they are worth every penny and more._________________________________________________
