Im running a 15" sub of my 4ch amp. everything worked fine for about a month and a half.
now just yesterday started to cut out. now no bass is produced from the sub at all, unless i apply a light even pressure to the ring surrounding the cone.
Ive checked and re-wired the amp and all the sub wires they all appear fine. strangely when applying the light force to the cone, the bass produced is perfect exactly the same as when the sub was runnning fine. without the pressure though, no sound is emitted!!!!
any1 got any ideas?
Cheers for any advice in advance

Get a new woofer. You have compromised the coils.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Definately a compromised voice coil without a doubt. It probably detached and by pushing it in you are making the connection again.
You said you are running the sub off a 4 channel amp? Are you running it off a single channel or bridged? Are you sure you have the the correct ohm load and enough wattage to power the sub? There are VERY few 4 channel amps I know that could power a 15" sub off 4 channels bridged let alone a single channel.
Take a look at the rest of your system and make sure it's hooked up before you just pop another 15" subwoofer in, you wouldn't want it to happen again.
