Here is the link of what the update will include....

What Xbox and M$ is not saying, although it has been confirmed, is that the new update will also include DIVX and Xvid support.
Here is the link regarding that....

Look for Sony to follow suit soon.

I'm hoping the update brings some better functionality for me for Media Center

A noticeable amount. I wouldn't say like mad, but more than it should. -
Tried the update before I left for work this morning. Love how fast the blades move now. Much more responsive than before. 1080p WMV files with VC-1 encoding/5.1 AC3played better across my network, so I imagine their optimizations included more buffering or something. I didn't have any HD DivX files to try, but some low-res DivX stuff worked just fine after renaming to .avi.
Now if I can just figure out how to change .mkv files to .avi, I'll be happy. Beyond that, this is one of the better updates done to the 360. Nothing radical, but a great refinement of what was already in place.Equipment list:

I like the friends of friends list, easy to find the people you should have on yours but don't. Unless they haven't updated their bio, and you don't recognize their gamertags.

Mine lags it's **** off. I can't believe how bad it works. In game play tonight was horrible. Call of Duty was basically unplayable and Chromehounds was about as slow as it gets....
Hope it smooths out tomarrow.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -

I noticed the blades/folders immediatly also. I have some HD Xvids of Weeds on a portable hard drive. I tried it out and it worked fine, and looked great also. Noticed a little "blockiness" up close, but when sitting at normal viewing levels it was not noticable. Have not tried any of my WMV 1080 files yet, but they looked great to begin with so I doubt I will see any change there.
You can change the .mkv's to h.264's. I don't know if you have ever tried that or not but I never liked the way they turned out, plus the conversion time is just insane. You can do that using the videora 360 video converter. You can also burn those to dual layer dvd's and the 360 will play them. I have never done that, but my friend does all the time, and I have seen it work.
Also I noticed a really wierd thing. I have Family Guy on xvids/avi, I transferred the folder over to my 360 video folder to try it out and the files were the wrong video format according to the Xbox. (I forgot the error code) Any ways I created a new folder in the Xbox video folder put all the xvids in the new folder, and the videos work fine. So go figure. That one really confused me.
Mantis, Not sure about the lag issues, but that sounds more like a Live issue than a new update issue. I know that COD4 was unplayable over the weekend. And I heard talk on Live that the COD4 team was transferring to new servers due to high volume play. Now again it was people talking on LIVE so I don't know how much you can take that into account. But again I could not play any team death matches on Live, only free-for-all would work. At the time of the issues, it looked like there were about 75,000 people trying to play COD4. -
With WMV 1080 files, they made a very important change which I'm loving: I used to have them stutter due to network activity (like if I was dumping my newsgroups). Now, instead of stuttering and getting out of sync during that, the screen pauses and it says "Buffering" with a percentage at the top.
Also, I didn't see this listed in the update details, but were movies in the marketplace tagged as "Stereo" and "5.1" before? I know that's something people have asked that they do... but this is the first time I've seen them specify which audio came with each version of the movie. Most SD comes with Stereo, but at least now you can see whether the HD versions have 5.1 before you rent something.Equipment list:
