They played everything well, but two songs in particular stand out to me - they played Tommy Bolin's "Post Toasty", and they played BOC's "Burning for You". At The Zoo in Aberdeen, when they played "Burning for You", the guys at the soundboard would sing background and they would have speakers above them mounted at the ceiling facing the stage and it gave this really cool surround sound affect. We would go everywhere from Aberdeen, Watertown, Clark, Miller, Redfield, Huron, Lane, Brookings, Sioux Falls, Pipestone, and everywhere in between to see them play (and party with them back-stage). Good times.

I always thought Kiss was as lame as it got. Then a band with that name hit the scene and proved it.

    +1 to that statement!!!

cool: Arcade Fire, The Libertines, They Might Be Giants
not so cool: Kachagoogoo, The The, **** Surfers
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

They were the ONLY band who even KNEW who Tommy Bolin was!!!
I used to catch them in Watertown (the casino Ballroom) Clark (Red's Runway) Sioux Falls (Dakota Territory) or anywhere else they played.

Thanks to this post, I now plan to give Bolin's Private Eyes a spin tonight.

With all this discussion, I'm torn... Toad The Wet Sprocket... Lame because it's such a horrible band name, or cool because it's an obscure Monty Python reference?

Now there is a great album. I have Private Eyes, Teaser, James Gang Bang (with Tommy Bolin), Billy Cobham's Spectrum (with Bolin) and was just today trying to find James Gang's Miami (with Bolin) and Deep Purple's Come Taste The Band (with Bolin). One of the greatest guitar players ever. Yet another tragic drug death. Sorry off topic but I get all excited when I hear of other Bolin fans.
